Default Using laptop to edit xls and doc from 8830 WE

Here is our scenario:
8830 WE
We have a 1GB microSD card installed
-I can plug the device into the computer and easily transfer documents to it and then send those documents as attachments using the BB
-I cannot figure out how to do the following: Take a received message with an xls or doc attachment, save it to the microSD card for later use on the laptop.

We need to be able to get those files onto the laptop and we cannot assume that the laptop has internet access (we're talking Kazakhstan sometimes). It seems to come down to saving the attachments.

Is there some way (crazy workarounds are fine) to get a document out of an email message and onto that media card?? We also do not use Enterprise Server.
