Pull battery, wait 30 seconds and then put the battery back in. It's a known bug with the 8830's.

Battery pulls are a temporary fix for the call collision problem. Go here and download the "Device v4.2 Software" and it will fix the problem. Can I get this as a sticky...this must be the 40th thread started about this same problem!?!

OK...40 may be a bit of an exaggeration. But there's been quite a few.

how do I determine what version my BB currently has on it?
Thanks, Ramona

I just looked on the software that is on my PC and it says Version 4.2.2.12 (March 19/07). Is that the latest?

Latest version is 4.2.2.148. Update can be found on the VZW website; you just have to authenticate using your wireless number.

Go to Options -> About

If you don't see v4.2.2.148 on the third line, then you should run the upgrade.

Go here, download and install the software. Then, from your pc delete the vendor file (do a search on your pc for it. Also, make sure your system is set to show ALL files, including hidden ones).

Now, connect your BlackBerry to Desktop Manager, and it should start the install of the newer OS. If it doesn't, then something is not right...

You also have to make sure the desktop software is installed. Although I didn't delete any vendor files. What does that do nav?

Forces the system to see there is a new OS installed, and thus it does an upgrade...
