| |  Is it worth it?
Hey all,
I'm currently with Telus and getting quite fed up with my Motorola Q9c and have been researching the Curve (8330) that Telus offers. During my research I found your forum and figured I'd ask around to see what the general opinion is.
So far, I think it's definitely a better unit then my Q, but I figured I'd ask some people that have had some real hands-on experience with the device before I go and spend the money on it.
So I look to you Curve users, is the BB Curve worth buying?

I am with Rogers so was easy for me to buy a BB on ebay or Kijiji and pop my sim card in. I went from an iPhone to a Curve (used 8310) and love it. There were 2 plans that interested me, a $15 unlimited email and a $25 plan with unlimited email, text, voicemail, who called and call display. Both also allow msn, yahoo messenger and google talk, all free to subscribe to. The BB also has its ow Blackberry Messenger which is free. I'm sure Tellus has equally attractive plans. Get a BB!

Curve is a great device. The moto Q9C is okay and much better than the Q9M and Q. It is windows and sometimes if you just back it up and wipe it, it might work better.
Depends mainly on your needs in a device

I'd wait for the Tour to hit Telus. The 8330 is becoming aged.

The most important question you will have to answer, how did you ever live without it?
The Curve is a nice package, large enough to be easy on the eyes and fingers, small and light enough to vanish into a pocket.
Of course, what makes BlackBerry shine is communications. There is nothing like BlackBerry email, you will always be in the loop.

I had actually done this less then two months ago and the device is already slowing down to a painful crawl. Many suggested I use SKTools to clean up the background junk Windows mobile runs but it still didn't really do the trick.
sinkcolinsink, I just saw the advertisement for the Tour coming to Telus, and the thought of waiting out for the Tour has also crossed my mind. The only reason I'm thinking of NOT getting it is because I'll probably have to buy the device new (and or off Ebay) and I figure I could save myself some money by going with the Curve.

Curve is a fine device in many ways, especially the 8330 version of the series. It is a good way to learn the ins and outs, and you will find it to be a worthwhile experience. Especially when you find out the battery life vs the q9 series.
No more using juice just to log in to check e-mails, they are sent from the server to your phone. I can go with my curve on all day, as long as I don't have a power hungry app open.
Start the used route, the upgrade later, when you can.

I use the 8330 as a phone, email for home and office, mp3, calendar and password locker a great deal. I use the Web and GPS (Navigator) often. I had not intended to buy a BB but when I took my phone swimming this was the best option for me at the time. I expected I would hate the device. Instead it has become something I have become dependent upon. I do not know how I was able to do what I did prior.
The things I do not find as optimized as I would like ... web mail is limited to certain sized messages, it does not deal well with MS Office files (ok but not nicely), and the current browsers limit the web experience more than I would like.
This said, I would not go back. If there were something better for not a lot of additional money I would go there but there is no way I would do without.

I've had my curve for 9 mos. now and don't know how I lived w/o it. I love the calander feature. It's a solid phone and if you have an issue, these forums are easy to search for solutions.

I don't think there is anything better than a Berry. I've had mine for about a year now and just like many have said...I don't know how I lived without it!

Hey, just moved from a Q9c to a Curve 8330 about 5 weeks ago, and I'm very glad I did. BB is much better at email, multi-tasking, keyboard is laid out better, and navigating once you get used to it. Two things I actually miss about the Q: The dedicated Home key was nice. I had a Facade program that put my calendar on the home page, and the Today Profiles I've found and use will do that, but RIM security doesn't allow the profile developers to include all-day events from the calendar on the home screen. I miss that and I missed a friend's birthday. All in all, liked Win Mobile, Love the BB a whole lot more! Let us know what you decide.
