Do you have an SD card installed or are you just using your phone's memory?

You need the blackberry desktop manager installed. Do you have that already?

Your phone should have come with I think 4 themes total if its from AT&T.

To open zip or rar files you need winrar. From there you can open the file and use the DM to add to your phone. Most themes on here and other sites (even free) you can get ota (over the air) instead of needing your PC

For desktop manager its better in my opinion to get it from blackberry.com in the software section. Version 4.6 is stable, there is a 4.7 but it causes problems for some so get 4.6 - I prefer the one without media manager. Roxio = junk..

Doesnt matter for themes you cant save them to your media card anyhow. If you are going to add a lot of music, wallpaper and the like a media card would be helpful. Good luck

Get a media card for your phone. Then you go to options/media card and enable mass storage mode. This way when you plug your phone into your pc you can access it as a device with removable storage. It will show up on your pc under "my computer". You can simply drop and drop the files you want directly to your media card this way. Ringtones, music, pictures,videos...what ever you like.

Yup as above. For "wallpapers" you need a media card, its better for ya. You do not need DM (desktop manager) for wallpapers since I also use mass storage mode - after you get the media card installed you go to options>media card>Mass storage mode support> ON that will enable it the easy way. Now your off to find wallpapers (tons on this site alone)

As rlp said after that ANY wallpaper you want for your phone you can transfer straight into your phone in the appropriate folder. Its quite easy to do and media cards are cheap. If you get stuck anytime post back though you wont need to.

Good luck
