If you're running .77, the .90 build actually has older files. When I went to update, it prompted me asking if I wanted to overwrite the software on my device with an older version.

This is actually .66 and the build is .90. Version .77 is actually a newer version so this would be considered a downgrade.

I am sorry to bother, but I have installed OS 4.5 to my computer / I have deleted the Vendor.xml file / I have opened the desktop manager plugged black berry in and it found no updates / I ran the application loader and it advised no updates / when I look into my phone it still shows 4.3 /

    Blackberry 8330
    Smartphone (CDMA)
    v4.3.0.127 (platform 3.1.0.72)

Any suggestions please let me know. You can send me a private message or just post on the site.

    Thank you,

Open DM>Help>About>Device Software Tab> and what does it list? Also, make sure to remove the old OS if it's installed on the computer.

Since OS 4.5 is being released by Blackberry, is it still necessary to delete the vendor.xml file?

It IS necessary to delete the Vendor XML file if the OS you are installing is NOT from your carrier.

I downloaded the file for US Cellular, but it is from Blackberry's website. (Note that the filename mentioned above ends in USCC.) So, does that mean I don't need to delete vendor.xml since USCellular IS my carrier?

Correct, It wouldn't matter where you downloaded the file from. OS's are device and Carrier specific. So as long as it's from/for your carrier theres no need to delete the Vendor XML file. Now for example, if someone with a 8330 from Verizon wanted to install this OS, they would have to delete the Vendor XML file to install. Hope this explains the situation for you.

Yes! God bless US Cellular! I will be upgrading as soon as I get home. Normally CDMA users are the last to get everything. Is there any other carrier in the US that has released 4.5? Or is September the big month for everyone?

I've printed and read the instructions, but I'm not clear on when the XML files are deleted. I have downloaded version 4.5.0.77 of OS, which is for USCC, but I'm installing the OS onto a Verizon 8330 Curve. I've located the Vendor XML files. Do I delete those files before I run the software on the PC, or run the EXE file, and then delete the Vendor.xml files before I connect with the Desktop Manager? Thanks.

What's the difference between this one and the MTS one that was pulled? The MTS one hosed all mms on my Alltel Curve. Any brave Alltel souls try this one yet? Does it hose mms completely as the MTS one did?

I am completely unaware of an Official .77 OS. The highest one I know of is this. If US Celluar is NOT your carrier then you need to go to C:\ProgramFiles\CommonFiles\ResearchInMotion\Applo ader and delete the Vendor XML file. After that plug in device open DM and it should prompt you to update.

That was a different build. Maybe that's why they took it down, but you are the first I've heard of with that problem. This should be fine to install to your device.

Just upgraded my vzw 8330 from 4.3 to 4.5.0.66(90)! Works fine. Nice updates on the browser and media player. Blackberry maps finally shows my location. Used to show san jose california. I live on the east coast. Phone seems slightly sluggish. I thought this would add html email. Doesn't appear to be working as I expected. No difference from 4.3 email as far as I can see. I deleted vendor.xml and used desktop manager to do the whole thing and no issues. Took 15 minutes from start to finnish. Keep you posted on any hiccups.

In Message Options->Email Settings are Enable HTML Email and Download Images Automatically set to "Yes"? Did you send servicebooks since the upgrade (you need to do this)? Also only new Emails will show HTML. Previous Emails will not.
