Instructions to install on ANY 8330 from ANY CARRIER.
1. Download the above OS file to the PC then install it to the PC by running (double clicking) the file you downloaded.
2. Go to c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader and delete the file named "vendor.xml."
3. Plug in BB and double click on "Loader.exe." It's located in the same place as the above vendor.xml file.
The process takes about 45 minutes to an hour depending on how much data you have to backup and restore during the process. Once it's done loading the new OS it will reboot (it may do this twice during the entire process.) You will see a white screen with an hourglass for up to 20 minutes at a time while the DM says "waiting for initialization." When the device boots up it will then restore your information. When the Apploader Wizard says Loading Operation Successful you may then unplug the device.
Noob question. Did the update yesterday thru DM. Went ok except for a few issues (Splashid corrupted, lost my reg codes and some settings). Is there a way to restore those things as well or do I just have to do it manually?
Also, does anybody know what the changes are in this update?
Thanks

Will the new OS work only with Telus mobility 8330s?
It'll work with any 8330, just delete the vendor.xml file before loading. See the other .131 sticky at top of forum post #1 if you aren't familiar with OS installations/upgrades.
I can't believe Telus has the highest os available for the 8330! Oh wait...that's because it's coming out months later. I love Telus, but man they are slow at this sort of thing.
1. Does anyone know if this os addressed the backlight lag?
2. As telus is my carrier, I do not need to delete the vendor xml. But, if I leave it, will it push stuff to my phone I may not want?
(In which case I would use crackmem to pick and choose what to install)?

Success! It took 26 minutes to update to .138 from .131
No lag coming out of backlight timeout using trackball.
Strange though, I lost my icon configuration on the third party theme I was using prior to upgrading. Also didn't keep the wallpaper setting I was using. Also, had to totally setup Weathereye app like a fresh install after this update. That's never happened on an OS update before.

Blackngray70: this thread is going to get a lot of posts. Maybe you might want to post some links to upgrade/download instructions? I mention it because you are the op and almost genius here, so you may get a lot of questions thrown at you.

ok guys sorry i didn't report back sooner so i have been running this since yesterday and i can say overall its not that different from .131 one thing i have noticed is the trackball lag seems to come and go with this build sometimes ill have it other times it will work as normal just like in old 4.5 builds so at least there making progress other then that the os as a whole seems a little bit quicker but nothing really drastic to report back at this time
X2 i also noticed trackball lag but seems to be working ok so far
so if my curve is working fine on 131, and i really dont have any problems, I should upgrade... but i was just thinking about how "bored" I was and wanted to do something...
