Yikes, I don't think I've ever heard of anyone switching to Nextel. :P

My parents switched from Cell One(Att) to Nextel simply because at my fathers work Nextel is the only company that gets reception in his building. Very odd but we live in a mountainous area and only have ATT, Nextel and US Cellular available to us.
The only people that should be excited about this are business professionals who have Nextel as their corporate provider... or the remaining poor souls who have Nextel as their personal carrier.
I would literally hate to have Nextel for a personal line, but there are circumstances (such as business, etc) where Nextel iDEN is practical... and this device will be a nice breath of fresh air for them!
I think its great that they are coming out with a new curve for Nextel. We have probably about 30 people, that we manage their wireless accounts for, that are wanting to switch back to Nextel to get the new Curve. Yeah their data is crap but call quality is great. Plus in the event that landlines go down Nextel Direct Connect still works everyone else is pretty much SOL. After 9-11 Direct Connect was the only thing that was working in that area of NY.
they honestly couldn't make this a hybrid? I heard all these rumors about this phone, waited almost a year to finally see it announced and it turns out it's a Nextel ... data and TXTing on Nextel is crap. your txt get there when they get there, which could be next days in some cases. I love the PPT, since I use it for work and personal. So far it's been great with the ic502 (Motto hybrid, voice on sprint, PPT on Nextel).
It really sux that they couldn't go the same route with this
