Instructions for installing on ANY 8320 (regardless of carrier)

For install instruction to load any carrier 8320 OS on your BB:

1. Back up data on Desktop Manager under Back up/restore option
2. Back up your 3rd party apps. Instructions here--> http://forums.crackberry.com/f3/how-...cations-53201/
3. Disconnect your BB from Desktop Manager
4. Download desired OS to your PC
5. Install/run OS to PC
6. Delete vendor.xml file. It's located in c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader if the OS is not from your carrier.
7. Connect BB to Desktop Manager and it should prompt the upgrade. If not click app loader and that should initialize it.
8. Do not unplug BB during the process. It will take around 30-60 minutes to complete upgrade.

***Steps 2 is optional but recommended***

****File Free/OS Memory Leak OS Version Report****

**** Installing OTA(JAD/JAR) Through Your DM ****

***BlackBerry Micro SD card quick guide. ***

***APN/TCP Settings Web Site***

*****Will keep each OS results posted as i run the OS, also i welcome others to report their results/experience(s)*****

The process takes about 45 minutes to an hour depending on how much data you have to backup and restore during the process. Once it's done loading the new OS it will reboot (it may do this twice during the entire process.) You will see a white screen with an hourglass for up to 20 minutes at a time while the DM says "waiting for initialization."
If, for some reason, you end up with a white screen with small icons and the number 507, simply connect to the PC again and run Loader.exe again and it should load the OS to the device.

Has anyone successfully used DM 4.7 to install .124? Also, does anyone know of any noticeable improvements in .124 (I am currently on T-Mo .81). Thanks.

No, you cannot. Every OS is device specific. This one is for ONLY the 8320.

This is the most recent official 8330 release:
Newest 8330 OS: v4.5.0.89 (Multilanguage)

Installed. Transferring over mp3 files back onto my memory card.

I was having a problem with 4.5.0.81 from t-mo. The phone kept completely shutting down in the middle of phone calls, anywhere from 3 to 8 minutes into my calls, consistently. Hoping a fresh upgrade without my memory card installed and subsequently formatting the card, will have fixed my problem.

So far the OS seems fine and besides having an issue with my myspace app freezing (which I will reinstall shortly), everything went through without a hitch.

ughhhh... new OS install did not fix my phone shutdown problem. Otherwise I have no qualms with the OS. Guess I'm going to get my phone replaced. Blah.

Installed .124 on my T-Mo 8320. I was running .81 and I don't really see much difference at all, except the OS seems a little "snappier". Plus there is now a Wireless Upgrade selection in the Advanced Options list which I don't remember being there before.

The upgrade process went smoothly, but I had to downgrade to DM 4.6 before I could proceed (DM 4.7 would not recognize the new software). All in all, it took about 50 minutes from start to finish. The longest part by far was the "connecting to device phase" which took almost 25 minutes alone.

Anybody upgrade from .110 to .124 yet? If so have you noticed any improvements?

Upgraded from .81 on Tmobile. As another poster said I also noticed a marked improvement in OS speed. I also think that my WIFI might be better at pulling in a weak signal. Everything was loaded in a little over an hour (I have a not so fast computer) and works fine.

I am in the process of installing this update and everything has been fine and now it has sat at 'Connect to Device' for about 45 minutes. The status bar hasn't moved. Is that part of the install or is there something I am doing wrong.

I would give it more time before quitting. Having to nuke a BB from a failed install is not fun.

Updated this morning. Less than an hour total including backup, backup 3rd party apps and Crackmem work. As usual, MyFaves did not update properly and I had to resend from the TMO website.
