| | Interesting Browser Issue
Hello all, I've been using this forum for support for several months now, but haven't posted before. I have a Verizon Curve 8330, loaded with os 4.5.0.77.
My problem is that my Blackberry Browser application has disappeared. I have tried resending service books, Host Routing Tables > Register Now, loading the application through DM(although it doesn't show up as its own module in DM, but rather as a part of the os 4.5 core software), and numerous battery pulls.
I spent about 2 hours on the phone with Verizon Tech Support, and while helpful, weren't able to resolve the issue. They tried resending service books, and changing things on my account such as internet access. They submitted the ticket to RIM, but I haven't heard anything yet.
I have also tried downgrading back to os 4.3(where the browser is STILL missing), and reinstalling os 4.5.0.77, with no luck.
Sorry about the long post, but I'm out of ideas...

When you try to register through the phone (Options, Advanced Options, Host Routing Table, BB Menu button, Register Now), do you get a message that says registration was completed? If you look at your signal strength, does it show 1x, 1X, or 1XEV?

| | Welcome to CrackBerry.
You have covered everything I can think to suggest with the exception of wiping the device prior to an install.
If there is some setting that has prevented the Browser from loading, that will insure it is re-set to default.
CrackMem has a wipe command, very simple to use. http://forums.crackberry.com/f35/cra...eleased-52044/ |

I do get the confirmation message(I have a collection of about 20 of them from yesterday). The signal is showing 1XEV, all caps.

Wiping the handheld now - I'll let you know how it turns out.

One thing that is different is that the Browser is actually showing up in the application list now, although I still don't have an icon for it. I tried to be smooth and launch it using my trusty "CrackBerry.com" shortcut, but it gives me the following error message: Your device does not currently have any Browser Configuration Service Book Entries. Please contact your service provider to enable the Browser on your device.
I checked the Service Books, and I mos' de'initely do have the [BrowserConfig] service book...
Maybe I should just run it over with my truck, and let the insurance get me a new one...
Reed - I can't try CrackMem at work, but if I don't get this taken care of by the end of the day, I'll try it at home.
*EDIT* I just noticed under Security Options | General Settings there is a field named IT Policy Name: Default, and it says Last Updated: Sep 5, 2008 5:21 PM - I'm also not able to disable the firewall.
Maybe I should follow the steps to remove the IT Policy from the phone?

Sorry about the triple post here, but I managed to get this resolved. After I realized that an IT Policy had been applied to my phone, I followed the instructions from another post to remove it, although I didn't have to follow all the way thru.
All I actually had to do was download the itpolicy.bin file into the correct path, then connect the Curve to my PC and start DM - I suddenly got all my icons back, and I am very pleased =)
I hope this will help someone else.

if the registration note does not bring in the browser you may need to call your carrier to have your data services turned on
