delta2bravo, am going to take it for granted you posted this in the wrong place, and thus am going to move it, and make it it's own thread...

Nonetheless, you can't make another browser default...

Regarding Opera Mini, I was thinking of downloading it to my BB Curve, but it seems the BB Curve Browser works well. What's the advantage, if any, of using Opera Mini? Thanks.

There are some sites that you won't be able to access with the standard browser, such as some banking sites.

Opera Mini download -- High Memory or Low Memory Version? I'm assuming that the BB Curve can handle the High Memory Version of Opera Mini, but before I download it, I wanted to make sure. Thanks.

Installed Opera Mini, but upon trying to access a Web site, it totally froze on me and I had to remove the battery to restart. Maybe Opera Mini isn't really compatible with the BB Curve? I think I'll stick with the std. Curve Browser for now.

Opera works fine with the Curve. Make sure you have your APN settings correct in Options - Advanced Options - TCP

They should be okay anyway if you are using the BB Browser. It might be work uninstalling the Opera Mini and then reinstalling. Might sound silly but i had the similar issue with the 8800 before i changed OS.

What should the APN settings be? I had the same problem with freezing after installing and trying to access a website.

Go here, and choose the carrier etc, and you can get the APN settings...

Thanks, I don't know much about this, but I gather the APN settings are so you can access the internet. The BB Browser on my phone has no problem connecting to the internet so I guess my APN settings are ok. I still don't know why opera mini does not work - will wait till the next version comes out and try that.

For Opera Mini to work correctly, it sometimes needs APN settings. So, go to options / advanced options / tcp - enter internet.com. See if that works, if that fails you'll have to try another APN!

I love opera mini on my 8830, though every time you zoom in and click a button, it zooms back out again. Is there a way to fix this?
An example of this problem: on my banking site you have to use a virtual keyboard to put in your password, though every letter i hit it zooms out, then i have to zoom in and hit the next letter...and so on.

    Thanks!

When downloading Opera Mini, may I suggest avoiding the BETA ver4 at this point as it does not seem to functional to it's full potential and is KNOWN for not working on the pearl at all, which may be some of the issue some of you guys are seeing with the curve?

I have installed OperaMini on my 8700g. After install, I am failing the internet connection tests. The error message indicates that the browser is attempting to access something inside and outside the firewall. This is not allowed by the IT policy. I am able to connect to a number of other apps including my default browser. Can someone help me sort this out?

I am not able to post URLs yet, so if you want a list of APN settings for every country PM me and I will be happy to email it to you, was very useful for me (I am on O2 UK).

Nope, not yet. The BB Browser is, and for now, will always be the default browser.
