Default help with bb 8320?

so i'm just confused with the whole wifi thing on bbs here. if someone can help me clear up some stuff?
i live in canada and have rogers as carrier. been wanting to get the 8320 because it has wifi.
so what i want to know is, if i get an unlocked tmobile 8320 , will i be able to surf without any data usage if im at home with a wireless adapter? or any hotspot, let's say at school? or do i need the talkspot that rogers is promoting?
please explain!!

This topic comes up frequently.. do a search for data plan or wifi and I'm sure you'll find the answers.

I'm fairly new, but from what I know, if you get wifi at home you'll be ok..but coverage will be spotty when you travel. A data plan is the way to go.
