Requests for email response are requests for private consulting. Please keep the discussion in forum to help others and get better support.

Arabic support is included FREE in many RIM operating systems. Go look through the install files (on your PC) probably in a path like C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\Shared\Loader Files\<some-OS-Version>\Java and you're looking for filenames like "net_rim_bb_resource__ar.cod" where "__ar" is the language identifier.

If you don't find it in your current OS install go look around the downloads for your phone from some of the other service providers in the Europe-Middle East area. At least one is likely to have what you need. Then it is simply a matter of deleting VENDOR.XML and reloading the OS.

Default Arabic Available for Blackberry Storm for free - here's how:

Arabic Available for Blackberry Storm - here's how:

You have to to first update the OS to v4.7.0.83 then go when you connect your blackberry to your computer and run the desktop manager go into the settings before uploading and choose English and Arabic or any of the other languages. Then when the upload is complete and you disconnect the blackberry from the computer it will ask you what language you want to use, choose english and the other selected language such as Arabic. If you do not select Arabic it will be removed from your blackberry, however you can still read arabic emails and texts.

Before posting this thread I tried it my self and it works fine. I typed an email in Arabic from my blackberry storm and I also sent my self an email from my computer to my blackberry storm and it also worked fine.

P.S. Make sure you don't pay $10 like suggested on other websites. This info is free and there is no need to pay.

Thanks for taking the time to test and share your knowledge. This is even more notable because it's only your second CB message.

Also thanks confirming Arabic support is available FREE if users put a little effort into searching. The same support should exist for all other recent BlackBerry models if users select the correct OS update. There is no reason to buy third party when the required functionality is part of the basic OS.

You know what, I give up, do you think the $10 covers my time and effort. I help those who do not want to install an OS, do not want to download 100mb, and just want a simple solution. Ask anyone I helped, if they were 100% happy with my service, if you find anyone who was not ask them did they receive an instant full refund. Show me someone who would do that after you have obtained their sw and support.

I Have been supporting languages other than English since the day the Storm was released. If you don't want my solution you are free to search for one yourself, but to ask others not to is a little going out of your way if you ask me.

Hello GT, I did not mean to offend you at all. I wish you the best of luck on all your ventures. I'm sure you've helped a lot of people. Just keep in mind I'm speaking for my self and the envirment that I'm speaking to, which are Savey, Addicted Blackberry users that love the Blackberry product and don't mind reinstalling the OS over and over just because we love to be upto date and we love updating it our selves. I was just trying to helpe out other fellow crackberry addicts, no pun intended.

So again good luck and don't be offended, we are all looking to save a buck these days while enjoying our gadgets and hobbies. Thanks again.

Post Enabaling Arabic For Blackberry Storm 9530 and OS Load

Here's step by step instructions on how to Enable Arabic reading and typing on your Blackberry Storm. The first steps are for loading an OS since 4.7.0.75 dosn't seem to have Arabic available as an option.

Blackberry Storm 9530

Updating the OS for Blackberry Storm 9530 to 4.7.0.90
I chose .90 instead of .99 or .100 because for the time being it seems to be the best for working with languages.

1. Download the OS by clicking here 4.7.0.90
2. Once the download is complete, you will prompted to follow the installation instructions. Complete this task.

3. Then you will be prompted to click finish, make sure you check the box that says open Desktop Manager and then click finish (Desktop Manager is used for syncing up your Blackberry and also used for loading various applications and system updates).

4. Make sure you Blackberry is plugged into your computer, if not it’s ok you can still do it now.

5. Desktop Manager will read the OS on the Blackberry and check if there is a newer update on your computer that is ready for install and will prompt you to click the update button that appears. If this doesn’t happen then just manually click on the Check for Updates option.

6. The OS update/load onto the Blackberry should take you about Twenty minutes or so after choosing update now. To confirm that the OS has been updated, on your Blackberry Storm, click on Options and then choose About and on your screen you will see the latest OS.

Adding and Changing the Language on Blackberry Storm 9530

1. Plug your phone into your computer (USB).
2. Open Blackberry Desktop Manager.
3. Choose Application Loader.
4. Choose Update Software.
5. Put a Check mark next to the first version eg: 4.7.0.90 and click next.
6. The OS will appear in the window, click options on the right side and you will be taken to a screen that allows you to choose Arabic and whatever other language you would like to load, make sure you load English with it or your phone will only appear in Arabic.

7. Click next and then click finish and it should start loading Arabic capabilities (eg: reading/writing).
8. Unplug your Blackberry from your computer and then on your Blackberry go through the setup wizard which towards the end will ask you what languages to enable, choose English and Arabic and click next.
9. If the wizard doesn’t appear then just load it manually by clicking on the Wizard Icon on your Blackberry.
10. Then choose Language
11. Then under typing choose Arabic.
12. Most importantly make sure you put a check mark next Arabic so that you may keep the typing fonts as well or else it will remove and undo the entire process that you just completed.

bbdm1.jpg

13. Now for the test, go into your email and start to compose an email, you should be able to see Arabic keys on your keyboard.

bbdm2.jpg

14. Now for test number two, go to Qur'an Transliteration and choose from the mobile section located on the left hand side and you should be able to see Quran in Arabic.
15. You can have the entire phone and all its features appear in Arabic (eg: numbers, icons, menus etc).
