Default The woes of adding users to BES and contacts

So I am in charge of running our BES server with about 50 users (just getting started) and one of the most frequent issues I have is contacts syncing.

My enviornment is:

Bes 4.1 SP6 r4
Groupwise 6.5.7

Some of our users have their own devices and we allow them to hook up to our server so we dont have to buy them a new phone/wireless plan.

With that said, most of them have a list of contacts on their phone, i edit the user in the BES, and under PIM sync i select an address book for them to use as a sync between the phone and their GW address book.

It seems that when i do this, users phone contacts do not go over to their GW address book, but if they add to the GW book, it shows up on the blackberry.

Anyone had this issue? Know of a way for me to get their contacts from the BB to the GW address book? Even if it means a backup, etc i am fine wth that i just need to provide them with a way to sync (and essentially save) their contacts.

The contacts should sync fine if specified before you activate the device.

If you change the address book after the user has been activated it takes about 4 hours to detect the change.

New address book entries that are added on the device should appear in the GW address book with 10 minutes. Additions to the GW address book will take 4 hours to appear on the device.

Check the SYNC and GW connector log file for issues.

I take it you are using OAPI to talk to Groupwise?

I'm having the same issue. Same version of BES, but we are running Groupwise 8.

I seem to find quite a few posts about this on the net, but I've yet to find a solution.

What version of the Groupwise client do you have installed on the BES and are you using SOAP or OAPI?
