Exclamation Unable to sync Address Book

Setup
BES 4.1.6 MR5 (Rollup) (Bundle 144) on Windows 2003 Server and Exchange 2003.

So far I am the only user with this issue. Little back ground of what happened. I tried to upgrade my OS to 4.5.246 and it failed. Had a brick for a phone. To restore it, I put back 4.5.110 from AT&T. Activated my phone to the server and got back everything (aside from programs I downloaded and themes). I noticed my address book had not synced.

I resent the service books.
Deleted the Desktop [SYNC] service book.
Wiped the Device Re-Activated to Server
I checked the Wireless Sync option in the Adress Book and it reads Not Available and won't allow me to change that.
I checked on the BES server and it shows True for Wireless Sync for the Address Book under my user name.

I've searched around here and other sites and found nothing other than the steps I've tried above. I am the BES Admin so I have access to the server and to make changes. My phone is the AT&T 8820.

Have you tried another device as a test?

Try going on the device and it contacts then go to options and switch the wireless contacts to NO.

Wait a couple of minutes and switch it back on. Then check what it says in the SYNC log file on the BES and look for errors.

Tried two other devices, a 8310 and 8300. Both gave me the option to turn off the wireless sync. Going through the logs, I noticed 9 different logs, which would have the errors? There is MAIL_ALRT_01, MAIL_CBCK_01, MAIL_CTRL_01, MAIL_DISP_01, MAIL_MAGT_01, MAIL_MNGR_01, MAIL_POLC_01, MAIL_ROUT_01, MAIL_SYNC_01.

The MAIL_DISP is the largest, yesterday and today it's over 2 gigs, all others were not even close. Sign of possible bigger issue?

OMG.......Dispatcher log over 2GB! That doesn't sound right.

How many users do you have on the BES?

How many days do you have the log files for? Go back to the oldest log files and see how they compare in size.

MAIL_SYNC_01 will contain PIM sync information including address book info.

Guys.....HELPPPPP!!! Our BES Admin upgraded the servers to 4.1.6 2 weeks ago and they insist that the IT policy remains intact and while I can actually get the emails and the calendars to work right (its able to wirelessly sync).....I was reported that other ppl who have their license re-activated or have wiped their contacts did not get it to wirelessly sync again....I was happy for a while since I didn't do any of that and until just 3 days ago I find out that I no longer have the options to set Wireless Synchronization set to On/Off anymore...it just say "Not Available"....!!!!!!!!!

I notice that my Facebook Contact Sync is no longer working....but I am assuming (from extensive research) that I just upgraded to FB 1.6 which complies to IT Policy but FB1.5 does not have that so it MIGHT not have anything to do with the IT Policy...it may have been there for ages but it FB1.5 was just ignoring it.....

But anyways....how can I get this Wireless Sync for my contacts back?????Noooooooooooooooooooo

Make sure the Blackberry Synchronisation Service is running on the BES. This looks after contacts, memo's and task's.

Resend the service books from the BES.

Do you have the Desktop [SYNC] service book on the device? You could delete all the Desktop service book on the device before you get them sent from the BES.

Yes at the moment I have
Desktop [OTASL] - what is this?
Desktop [BBIM] - I'm guessing its BB Messenger, is it???
Desktop [MDS] - what is this?
Desktop [BrowserConfig]
Desktop [CICAL] - Calendar???
Desktop [SYNC] - thought this was the email
Desktop [IPPP] - What's this?
Desktop [ALP] - What's this?
Desktop [CMIME] - And what's this??

Which one is the email and the calendar? Its the only two that seems to be working!!

How do I get something sent from the BES server - just tell them to send it over and it'd be ok right?

Heeeelllllpppppp!!

Make sure the Blackberry Synchronisation Service is running on the BES --> Only a few ppl (like me) don't have it working, the rest of the people seems to have a normal working one, does this mean that it is enabled?

But emails and calendars are working perfect, are they not using the same service?

Which service books are for emails and calendar and which ones are for memo, task, and contacts? Are these 3 all bundled together in the same book while email and calendar are 2 separate ones?

The CMIME is email
The CICAL is calendar

To resend the service book on the service the administrator just right clicks on you and selects resend service books.

Email/Calendar is looked after differently by the BES. Thats why it takes people a while to realise that contacts/memos/tasks are not working

I don't think that its all the SYNC service does but it is certainly responsible for contacts, memos and tasks.

I've been doing BES installs/upgrades and troubleshooting for customers for 3 and a half years now so I'm just trying to repay the help I have got from forums!

Ok, I asked my IT guys to talk to the BES Admin, but it appears that after the upgrade to 4.1.6 the world crashed and they're investigating a big lump of service request...mine is now at the bottom of everything.....I guess....I'll have to live with it.....really???? Can this be done from operator?????? I remember that i was able to get MMS working through operator but I guess this service book has something to do with the internal exchange server, my operator might not be able to do it......will they?????

Not all of the service books on the device come from the BES. Some come from the network.

If they are having issues when they are resolved you handset will catch up.

I went to a customer that said they had no contact sync for 3 weeks. When I had a look the Blackberry Synchronisation Service was not running. I just can't believe that only one user noticed.

Once I switched the service back on everything caught up after a while.
