Question Issue calling contact from the GAL

Hi,

I have recently been getting a few issues from some of my users who are experiencing an error when trying to call a contact from the contacts list, the process that they use is as follows:

They will go to "Contacts", enter a name to search for, hit lookup, select the contact and then press the green key to place the call.

Once the call button is pressed, the device will wait for approx 1-2 seconds then they will get the following message "Unknown Application", this would only seem to be affecting the users of the 83xx Curve devices so far, as the 88xx and Bold users don't seem to be having this issue.

We are on Exchange 2007, with BES 4.1.6, the 83xx devices are running OS 4.5.0.55 (This cannot be changed as we have to work within CESG policy guidelines).

Any ideas

What are you seeing in the logs on BES? I'm using an 8320 and not seeing an issue. We are on Exchange 2003 running BES 5.0.

The logs are good, no errors, I can see the device accessing the exchange contacts list, but not generating an error, the error seems to be produced from the device side

Are they all on the same IT Policy?

Are you blocking anything in the policy itself?

All the 83xx devices are on the the same IT Policy, apart from 1 8310 which has a GPS Policy, also but not all of the 83xx devices are affected.

No the IT Policies are quite restrictive due to the CESG enforcement, but the phone functions and address book are certainly quite open.
