I have been working tirelessly for the past 3 days, trying to get the messages on an old 8700 backed up, and onto a new 8700. There are 3600+ messages I am trying to backup. From the desktop software, it get to 1:06 remaining, and locks up, or the handheld aborts the connection. Any ideas? Anyone know of another backup software, other than the desktop manager, that will perform backups?

Any thoughts on how to get this freekin Crackberry to backup??

    Im spent....

First of all, enjoy your stay. And i am goign to lock the other thread you have posted in the 8700 series, as we dont need double posting.

My first question is are you using Desktop Manager 4.2? If not then, i would strongly recommend doing this as it may solve the issue initially.

    Let us know...

    Regards

If you are using Desktop Manager 4.2, are using using the Switch Device Wizard, or just the backup/restore functions?

if he's using an 8700, he should just use DM 4.1 .. It'll work better IMO since it was designed to be used with devices running OS 4.1

uninstall and reinstall DM on the computer. Just try doing a simple back up of the device .. Shouldn't take that long.

Then restore on the new device.

DM4.2 works great on devices running OS4.1

I used it several times to switch between the two different devices.
