Question Best way to import contacts from old BB and activate on BES?

I have what seems like a simple question but I want to get a second opinion before I attempt this. I have a new user who has a personal Blackberry with over 800 contacts on it. I have a new 8830 I will be activating for her on our BES. She wants to import the contacts from her old unit to her new one. I know I can use the desktop manager software to export and import her old contacts. If I import those contacts from the old unit and then activate the new one on the BES will that keep her old contacts and add her Exchange contacts so they'll all be synced on the new Blackberry? This is a high level user and I want to make sure I go about this the right way before I try anything. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I don't know the answer but that is a lot of contacts. I have a little over 540.

I work on BB's all the time and the most conatcts I've seen is 6500!!!

And the answer to your question is YES.

Any contacts on the device will be sync'd with outlook, which can lead to duplicates but thats better than losing some.

After finally taking a look at the old device it turns out it's a Palm Treo 700p. I guess for some people any device with a keyboard must be a Blackberry, right? So this was all for nothing, but thanks anyway!

Sync the Treo to Outlook, then activate the BB. The contacts in Outlook will load up just fine.
