Default BES Upgrade

Hello everyone

I'm curious if I can upgrade from 4.0.7.8 directly to 5.0?

If so, are there any problems that I should be aware of to do this? Is there a minimum required OS for the devices to connect to BES 5.0? ie: do I need to upgrade all the devices, ranging from 8700's, 8100's to 8310's before doing the server upgrade?

If I cannot do a straight upgrade, what version should I jump to before going directly to 5.0?

Any advice would be appreciated, I'm a novice here willing to learn, so please be patient.

Thanks!

edit: I just found this link: BES 4.x to 5.x upgrade possible?

I'd still like some assistance if anyone can lend a hand with my questions.

You can upgrade directly from 4.0 sp7 to BES 5.0.

I would not bother upgrading the firmware until version 5 firmware is available but this is only likely to happen for the latest models.

The older devices will have to be happy with what they have already got.

Make sure you take a backup of the BESMgmt database before you do the upgrade so that you can go back if required.

Also make sure that the BESMgmt.mdf and BESMgmt.ldf files are set to unlimited growth. This is because the schema will be extended as part of the upgrade and if you hit the limits the upgrade will fail.

I'm doing this extact upgrade for a customer next Tuesday so I'll know exactly whats involved then.
