Default Alltel BES and Verizon buyout

I have a question for those that know.

We have an Alltel BES at our office but many of us want to switch to Verizon. My question is, that our new IT person cant answer, is this:

What needs to be done, if anything, for Verizon service to run on an "Alltel BES"?

Is there a software upgrade needed? If so, does it cost or is it a free upgrade?

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Chris

The BES does not care which network the devices are on so there are no required changes to the BES.

If you use one network for handset support they generally won't answer questions about another networks handsets.

Thanks for the answer.

It is good to know that no tweaking on the BES is needed.

As far as the handhelds, I fully understand that the networks still keep each other at arms length.

The BES is actually from RIM, has nothing to do with any carriers. The only thing this would change would be the OTA upgrades for Verizon *may* filter down to your devices eventually.

Thanks. One more question. Can a BES run multiple carriers?

Like for Alltel and Verizon users?

Thanks

Chris
