Default Blackberry Internet Service Email Question

Hi, I've asked this question on a couple Windows Tech forums and still do not have the answer, hopefully someone here has seen this issue and can help me out (fingers crossed)....

About a month ago I joined a new company and set up my email acount using BIS, the company does not use BES, everything worked great as far as sending and receiving mail except this nagging issue.

First i should probably tell you the OS and Office versions I am using, this may make a difference.

I am running two laptops, one with Vista Ultimate and Outlook 2007 and the other with XP Home Edition with Outlook 2003, i have exactly the same problem on both.

When emails hit my inbox in Outlook they come in as Bold as being unread, after about anywhere from 2 to 5 minutes regardless if I have opened them or not the bold goes away as if they have been read.....this happened with my Sprint 8830 BB and it is now happening exactly the same way with my new Verizon Storm. This leads me to believe based on it doing the same thing on two different BB devices on two different services and it does the same thing on two laptops running different OS's and differnt versions of Outlook I'm guessing that it is something on the Exchange Server causing the problem.

Here's the interesting thing....if I remove the email account from my Blackberry service the problem goes away and Outlook works fine. As soon as I recreate the email account on my Blackberry it comes back.

HELP Please!!!

Nick

Kudos! Thanks!

If I understand this correctly, when an email comes into outlook, it is bold (unread), then a few minutes later it's not bold (read).

I believe this is a normal function of BIS email and the email program. Email comes into outlook, then shortly it is 'pushed' to your BB. This pushing is what is changing the unread to read in outlook.

I welcome input from our other addicts. But this is exactly how my email programs behave with my BB setup for receiving email.

As far as I know this will always happen with pushed email. With the work email there may not be a work around. My home email account via POP3 will show bold on my home PC until read there unless I delete both when reading from BB.
Sorry. I am clear as mud but hope you understand what I am trying to say.

Thanks guys....I used the exact same set up with my previous company and it did not do this, what you are saying makes perfect sense, however, it did not do it at the previous company.....weird...I really think there is some obscure Exchange setting that is not right

Default Disagree

Actually, I would have to disagree. I run a laptop with Vista Ultimate 64 bit and Office 2007 Enterprise, and my mail is pushed to my Curve 8320, and in Outlook it stays 'BOLD'. Pushing email has nothing to do with the actual message being read. Pushing is another form of forwarding, not reading.

Your issue might be several things. One, someone at work (network admin) may be reviewing your email as security procedure. Your mail might also be getting intercepted (email hijacking).

Two, on your device under 'reconciliation' options, if you have your handheld set to win on reconciliation, then after reading on your handheld it will show as read in Outlook. While in email, go to options, and choose to either turn on or off wireless reconciliation, and choose the 'conflict' resolution you prefer.

See if that helps.
