A reference to this was posted in another subforum and thread.

Here's the open of an email I received a bit ago:

    "Amsterdam, The Netherlands, 28-01-2010 16:30 GMT+1

Subject: Nav4All navigation shut down by Navteq

Letter to 27,625,631 Nav4All navigation customers

    Dear Customers,

It is with the deepest regret that we hereby notify you that the
global navigation of Nav4All and the Tracking & Tracing will go
offline in 3 days. The reason for the same is that the data licence
agreement with Navteq (a 100% Nokia subsidiary) was not extended, in
a totally unexpected manner. It is not possible to implement data
from another supplier in our Nav4All systems within the short term.
The Nav4All navigation system was developed for Navteq data. Nav4All
has therefore been constrained to stop."

Tis a pity and sounds like bully tactics from Nokia. But developing a system over 5 years reliant on one supplier smacks of bad risk management.

    Farewell Nav4all.

Wasn't that great, Nokia trying to save money and just use Life-in-Pocket.

Not sure how Life in Pocket works on other devices, but just loaded on my Storm2. After loaded, did battery pull & then messed around with the app, I checked memory & it was at 78. Prior to that my memory has been extremely stable on S2 and I don't think it has ever been below 115, and never any noticable leakage. Few minutes later checked & it was at 71. Removed Life in pocket, and memory is back to 118. Not sure if this was a fluke or not, but it is my experience. Just something to look for if you install LinP.

Have been using LifeInPocket with my Storm2 for 4 months now, no issue at all. Very fast because the app size is only about 750 KB.

You are probably expericing a S2 OS bug which forces the app to compatability mode. Below is how the other guy fixed his problem.

    Give it a try!
    1. Battery pull

    2. Options>Applications>highlight (don't click) LIP

    3. Hit BB button, disable compatability mode

    Maybe another battery pull

    Interesting.
Any live (online) application that uses Navteq maps may go dark at some point in the near future.
