Default Enough with the iPhone/Verizon rumors already...

There is going to be NOTHING between Verizon Wireless and Apple for an iPhone on Verizon wireless for AT LEAST ONE (1) YEAR due to a) Apple has already clearly stated that they are not interested in making a CDMA device because there isn't enough demand for it across the globe. b) Verizon Wireless CEO Lowell McAdam stated in a press release recently that Verizon will NOT depend on a "Hero" device (referring to the iPhone) in any sort of short time frame c) The next iPhone that comes out (after the 3G S) wont be until after LTE launches in 2010 (1Q10/2Q10 for Verizon, possibly later for AT&T).

I don't post this to squash and dash everyones hopes and dreams for an iPhone on Verizon because I would honestly love to see Verizon add it to their line up of phones, I love my blackberry but I have 2 phones, my personal line and my business line, what do I need 2 blackberries for? I would much rather have an iPhone for my personal line and my blackberry for business, because lets face it, no one does Push email like blackberry. But I digress. It will most likely happen SOMEDAY, but that day is not going to be for a while.

I don't think Apple will wait that long to release another iPhone after the 3GS. They'll probably release another one sometime next year even before there are enough markets transitioned to LTE and it also won't be an LTE capable set.

I don't think Apple will be releasing any LTE capable sets until at least 2011. Verizon is expected to have nationwide coverage by 2012 and have fully deployed LTE in 2014. So if Verizon where to get an iPhone it wouldn't be until end of 2011 at the earliest. But realistically speaking I would say mid 2012 to end of 2012 for anything like that.

That's also around the same time AT&T is set to start deploying their LTE network.

I think thats its very likely that there could be a LTE/CDMA hybrid iPhone next year. Verizon has already stated that they plan on having 20-30 markets with LTE in 2010.

Apple would love the chance to have access to the 80 million Verizon customers.

Agree that at this point it is very unlikely that we will have a CDMA IPhone.

Those two bold marks? Yea, they contradict themselves completely. I, nor anyone else, could give you hard numbers. But 20 to 30 markets? Of their ENTIRE network? No where near the 80 million sub's they have. Not even close!

Yes, you are correct sir. Not quite 80 million, proibably closer to 30-50 million, which is still nothing to scoff at.

VZW plans on having 20 markets rolled out by the end of 2010. How is that 30-50 mil?

They're also planning on having 210 markets by 2012 and some say that's enough to call it nationwide but still not fully deployed. I wonder how many markets there are? But what I'm trying to say is 20 markets out of 210+ markets does not make up 30-50 mil. Just saying. Unless of course there are 20 markets that make up for 50% of the network and the other 190+ are markets of 1+ people.

Oh no?? Dont take the iPhone for granted so much. This is a device that has skyrocketed in sales, whether you like it or not. Its a juggernaut from Apple, and putting aside the features vs a BlackBerry, you dont just sit around thinking they are not cutting into your share.

Now if the iPhone went to other providers in the US? Your talking big numbers, and something that RIM/Palm and others are sure to keep a close eye on.

By no means do I think any phone is better then the other. They all have pro's/con's.

It should. Having the iPhone on multiple carriers in the U.S. can hurt BB sales a lot. Even if you do not care about the iPhone, it is always good to be informed about it since it is big competition against your beloved BB.
