Default Curve coming to Sprint in '08.

This supports some rumors...

I just got off the phone with the person at Sprint that handles our corporate account. I asked when/if they would be coming out with the Curve. According to our rep the phone is due Q1 2008. I tend to believe her since she had to step away and look it up which gives me an impression that there may be some sort of schedule she is referring to.

This could be her getting information wrong, of course...but I feel pretty confident that this is going to happen. Which definately gives me a better idea on what I want to do for my communication needs.

Good info. Now I can convince all of my Sprint Treo users to switch to the Curve in a few months!

Default Sprint told me otherwise...

I asked my repre.. today and they said that the 8830 is their (Sprint) curve. He also said Sprint will not carry a Wi-Fi BB due to security or virus risk in a public unsecure Wi-Fi. How true this is I don't know but this is what I was told today after looking at the BB Pearl Sprint is now carrying. I luv my BB8830 but I'm missing the camera and the Wi-Fi.

If Sprint got the Curve that would be great. But I think they would probably stick with their 8300 naming convention as opposed to calling it the 8830.

8100 = Pearl
8300 = Curve
8800 = Business Blackberry (biggest trackball Blackberry)

You're right...I was really just referring to the first 2 digits of the models. I suppose I could have written...

81?? = Pearl
83?? = Curve
88?? = Business Blackberry (biggest trackball Blackberry)

Especially since they keep changing the last 2 digits when a new version of that model comes out.

The 8830 is the World Edition
The 8130 is the Pearl
The 88xx will be the Curve - eventually.

The 8830 is NOT Sprint's Curve.

Well if we pay attention when a CDMA carrier gets a BB the last 2 numbers are 30. So if the Curve is 8300 then the CDMA version will be 8330. From what I am reading is that VZW will be getting it the middle or end of Q1 so that means Sprint will follow 2-3 weeks after then Alltel 2-3 months later.

juwaack68,

You're correct in saying that the BB 8830 is NOT Sprint's Curve.

However, I think the BB 8330 will be Sprint's Curve. Unless, the BB 9330 from the future 9300 series in 2008 ends up being the Sprint CDMA Curve.

Keep on Crackin',

Again I think that VZW will get the Curve first, then Sprint and then Alltel. This is the cycle of phones being released. That is if all 3 carriers are going to get it.

I would love to know your sources on this one. I stopped by a store today and they said they won't have it for a while. I don't really trust this answer, but the end if the end of Jan was the case I would think that the store reps would have a bit more "heads up". But...you never know.
