Just some news! BlackBerry Desktop Manager 4.6.0 B15 is now available on the BlackBerry download page on their main site. Not sure what new features are available yet.
I know that there was a 4.6 floating around, but this is newer release than that. I don't believe the B stands for Beta as well, because their site does not mention it anywhere and has it listed in the full version categories.
This DM has been around for a while. Look on page 5,6, or 7 on the CB main page. BTW, the B15 stands for Bundle 15.... And believe it or not, some bundles are better than others.

I believe that "B" stands for bundle. It's a programing term used to denote a version of a software package. I don't think that RIM posts Betas for the general public.
I'd stay away from it. Here's one of the Known Issues that still hasn't been fixed:
SDR 159827 If you start the BlackBerry Desktop Manager, you might receive the following error message in Intellisync:
"Failed to connect to the device."
Impact: You might not be able to use the BlackBerry Desktop Manager.
Workaround: None.
If the Desktop Manager can't connect to the phone, then what's the point!
I just downloaded the new desktop software with Media Manager and I am unable to restart my system. Not even in safe mode.
I also can't use system restore. Received error message. It is now checking the partition for errors. 2 hours and still checking.
I downloaded 4.6 yesterday. Whilst it took ages to install I have not encountered any issues. It found my device straight away. Also completed a backup with no problems
Media Manager wouldn't load in the DTM bundled with the bold and stopped my PC from shutting down, I then downloaded B015 and that wont install so I'm going back to 4.5 for a while!
I have a problem with 4.6, had the same problem with 4.5 DM
when I do a back-up & i see it go through all the items on my BB backing up message, contacts etc however when it reaches Setup Wizard I get an error message & it stops the back-up, so i don't get a full back up.
Any ideas ? I installed the 4.6DM English with media manager.

CG I had problems with 4.6 also but not the same as you described. My issues were with connecting to the device. As to why it's reaching the set-up wiz and stopping on you, I have no clue. Do you have a media card? If so, remove the 4.6 and just d/l the DM w/out media manager. I haven't seen either 4.5 or 4.6 have problems with a back-up though. I will check and post back tomorrow or something. Sorry.

I installed 4.6 last week and I started getting system errors and errors pertaining to Roxio. System restore would not work so I had to reload the entire Vista operating system. I think most of the problems are related to the media manager. I am going to stick with 4.5 for now.
The Roxio software is crap. I wish they could find a better way to manage media without Roxio. I'm having the same problems with 4.6. I mistakenly installed "without MM" first, but now when I try to install the one "with MM" it tells me the first install isn't finished. AND I HAVE NO WAY TO FINISH IT! What the...!
Installed it, and didn't encounter any problems.
