Thanks for the welcome, CB. I've been here for a bit, but my dealings tend to be via email with Kev more than anything else (he's actually met me in person, although I believe we were both quite drunk (well, I was, but he may have just overly hyper.. LOL!)).
Sprint and Alltel should be launching the Curve 8330 in Q2 '08. Last I heard is that Verizon was still on the fence about the release of the Curve 8330, although it appears that their tune may be changing (towards the positive for BB fanboys) and a release will likely be seen in late Q1 or early Q2 for them as well. I think early Q2 will be a realistic launch timeframe from all angles for all carriers involved. The device (particularly the OS) is being tested with all carriers listed above, though. I doubt we'll see any exclusives for this particular device, although launch dates will likely be skewed by the carriers.
The one thing to keep in mind for CDMA devices is a two-fold technology swing in terms of that market. First, Qualcomm is readying a new generation of hybrid chipsets for CDMA devices that will feature HSPA (post-HSDPA/HSUPA evolution) and EV-DO Rev B (post-Rev A), along with backwards compatibility for practically any other GSM or CDMA technologies on the boardwalk. I think we can expect some handsets with these chipsets to launch in Q4 '08 or Q1 '09. The second part of CDMA is the announcement for the use of GSM-evolutionize LTE technology for Verizon's 4G offering. While I don't think we'll see this anytime in the near-term future, Verizon has been testing the technology for sometime and some rumors have this being launched (in limited test phases) early next year, although I've yet to read/here about an LTE-capable device for public consumption (although I'm 100% sure the radios do exist for Qualcomm's presentation and testing purposes). EV-DO and CDMA won't be going anywhere in the foreseeable future, but I think the ball has now been set into play for drastic changes on that side of the pitch.

I think the new BB member coming out will be almost revolutionary! BGR has been wrong before but has also been right many times. I am in no rush to be honest!

If Sprint does launch in Q2 of '08, then BELL MOBILITY in Canada should not be too far behind. This is great news for Canadians who have been waiting for the release of a CDMA Curve. 
Also very interesting news about Qualcomm. MERRY CHRISTMAS and may 2008 bring us all Health, Happiness, World Peace and Prosperity.

641 mhz prcessor wifi gps
Ther will be a 9100 series a 98or 9800 seris and a 9300series suposedly packing :asdpa/umts radios
1 gig if internal memory atleast. And you had the micro sd slots cameras on the civilian models me an a frind have known this for 6 months waybefore bgr started leaking it. It will also have 6 data channels instead of the usual 4 do you don't have suck a bottleneck when tethering.

mikei | If RIM includes a spelling correcting system a la Apple iPhone, it won't be a problem...at least not with some practice.
I got rid of my iPhone for other reasons other than the lack of tactile keypad. With some time committed to use...it was as fast and easy as the one on my Curve.
If BlackBerry can incorporate all the "stuff" they promise to in the 9xxx series...and keep the rock-solid reliability and stability of the current BlackBerry OS...there is no doubt, that I will be an owner!!  |
