Well i know I'm kind of late to the tethering party just wanted to say I can't get it to working properly and I know I've done this before eh.. I've ran the diagnostics on the standard modem but the I keep getting COMMAND NOT SUPPORTED in the query. I've got 5.0 desktop running and trying to use a BOLD running OS 5.0.238. If there's something I'm missing please advise if anyone has time. Currently running windows 7 for the OS on my laptop. Welp off to work I'll check back later and as always appericate the wonderful forums here.

although i can get a connection ok using my storm 9500 as a 'modem', internet explorer will not use the connection, it just says it 'cannot connect to the internet'. I did the 'Select Dial whenever a network connection is not present' in internet options but still no different.
could vodafone be blocking me? The storm works ok when it's not connected to my laptop

Is it true that you phone can get a virus using it as a modem? My husband is overseas and has been using his BB as a modem (he has T-mobile) it was working perfectly all of a sudden it it doesn't work any more. Any suggestions as to what might have happen. He needs his laptop to be working he is in south Africa.

Just a heads up: if you have desktop manager 5.0 or 5.1, it has an option where you click to connect or tether to the internet! I came on this thread to set up and my comp wasn't showing the standard modem. So I called tmo and they said they don't have modem support anymore! And after several calls to care, one told me to dl the latest manager and I don't have to do what we used to do to set up. I did and it was easy as selecting your carier and clicking connect!
