1909 cod files from 6.0.0.600 & 121 cod files from 6.0.0.576. Radio file from .576.
Before you start please get your BBs Back-up with Desktop Manager!
1) Uninstall any OS loaded to your PC and Remove all folders in C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\Shared\Loader Files location (for Windows XP)
2) Install OS 6.0.0.576 for 9800 - Leaked (MultiLanguage) or Official (jAsia)
If you have 6.0.0.576 downloaded before no need to download this again! Just Install it to your PC
4) Double click Torch_6.0.0.600_FullJavaSwap_rroyy.exe and It'll ask you to select extraction folder. Default location for extract is Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\Shared\Loader Files\9800M_v6.0.0.576_P6.6.0.216 (for Windows XP) you should select folder named 9800M_v6.0.0.576_P6.6.0.216 If you loaded leaked one or 9800Asia_v6.0.0.576_P6.6.0.216 for the official one.
If windows below appears select Yes To All
5) ShrinkOs if you want. (BBHTools) Image below shows safely removable applications. Select the boxes for applications, fonts, etc. that you are not using to gain more space.
6) You can wipe your device before but I prefer not to do it and works well for me.
7) Launch loader.exeC:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader (for Windows XP) And Install OS as you did before.
Please comment and write your findings, toughts.
Cheers.
When you do this are you just replacing the files in the Java dir or the entire directory? I did the entire directory and got a white screen on first attempt. I rolled back to 486 and am now on this hybrid. What did I do wrong?
very nice so far!!! for the 9780, just delete all the files in the 576 java dir then paste in the files from the 9700 600 load.. sorry, don't really understand. delete 576 java dir fr 9800?

Easiest way is to copy the Java files (files only, not the folder) from the 9700 load. Then copy the files into the 9800 Java file. If asked to replace files say "Yes." Then use Loader to install the OS to your phone. No need to remove the Java file or to copy the entire folder.
Is this a hybrid? Does it install the same? Do you delete the vendor file? What do you mean by 'shrink os'?
Yes - this is a hybrid. You would delete the vendor.xml file from the base .576 OS that you install first on your PC. Once you have installed the .576 base, then you copy the java files from the hybrid and paste them into the java folder in the .576 base. The files you copy and paste will overwrite the standard java files in .576. Then, you install the OS onto your Torch.
"Shrink OS" means removing unneeded/unwanted .cod files from the java folder, using BBHybridsTool (or other similar applications). The purpose is to make the OS smaller so your Torch boots faster. THIS IS A HIGHLY "DANGEROUS" THING TO DO IF YOU DO NOT KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING. If you remove something that should not be removed, minimally the OS will not run properly, could have some serious side effects, and worst case you could "brick" your Torch.

I hope this info has helped.
Thanks! Since I have never tried a hybrid, I guess it best for me not to do it. I appreciate your help in understanding this.
If you're unsure, direct the exe to extract elsewhere within your computer. Somewhere on the desktop maybe, then you can copy and paste into the shared folder, when you are ready.
It is just a matter of clicking
