This phone will include an embedded built in Wi-Fi router, making extra mobile broadband subscriptions useless. Seriously, if this is a T-Mobile only device, they win. Let's see if it's a exclusive or not.

No it won't, but a rooted Android phone will allow a wifi tethering app that will let you use it's internet as an access point.

The HTC HD2 smartphone, which includes an embedded WiFi router, is expected to make its debut in the U.S. early next year, giving devices like MiFi a run for their money.

The HD2 uses the Windows Mobile 6.5 Professional OS, and in Europe and Taiwan is capable of handling the 7.2 Mbps HSPA version. HTC said the device will come to the U.S. in ealry 2010 with an unnamed major operator.

Verizon and Sprint currently offer Novatel's MiFi, which enables multiple WiFi-enabled devices to connect to the Internet via a 3G connection. The HD2, however, will include a WiFi router to make an additional mobile broadband subscription unnecessary.

Whoever gets the HTC HD2 will get a significant boom in sales. I see this device outselling the Droid and Hero if the pricing is right. I don't see any carrier trying to seel this phone for more than $300. If it comes in at that price or less, it will be a big win for any carrier.

+1, I will be one of the first to make the switch. I got the Imagio and the HD2 is like a supercharged version.... Can't wait!

I wish this was the case but i think you meant to say if the marketing is right. The price means nothing if nobody knows about it. With the marketing campaign of the Droid plus the bad stigma associated with WM, it won't outsell the Droid. But is by far a better device than the Droid and iphone.

HTC WM phones have been doing this for a while now. Check out the app called WMWIFIROUTER i have been using my phone as an access point for about a 1 year and half. Sprint , Verizon, and ATT are late to the party with their mifi crap.

I sure don't..... Look at the browser compared to the iphone. It can't even process the page as fast as the iphone can. This phone has a 1ghz processor and it has more checkerboarding in the browser than the iphone. Lol and the screen transitions towards the end, when it loses the guy calls it a tie.

Ook... Time to smash some misinformation...

-The HD2 is rendering at much higher screen res than the iphone 3gs (800x480 vs 480x320)...
-Opera Mobile is one browser choice. Was it even 9.7 beta being shown? Was turbo mode enabled?
-Any rendering issues are likely due to the browser, not the cpu...
-The WM phone is actually, uhm, really multitasking....

Also I think you are completely misunderstanding the meaning of "tie"... It's not based on one single instance of rendering one page...
