Nokia rocks. I wish they got more love in the U.S.

I usually don't like Nokia phones, but I may actually give this one a try when it comes out if it is available for Rogers.

I'm saving up for it now. The only turn off is the resistive touch screen.

Oh wow I thought I heard in one of the demo videos that the screen was capacitive. That is a huge turn off for me. Hopefully the screen isn't plastic?

Plastic screen is going to be a big turn off on a $1000.00 phone.

That's what I'm saying. I haven't seen anywhere saying if it is plastic or glass. Just says "touch sensitive screen". If this screen is plastic that would be really upsetting. Bad enough it isn't capacitive.

Love to see a CDMA version. As a ubuntu user its great to see more than just the goo-phone for linux being pushed out there.

Sadly I think that we need a major UI refresh soon or open GL or something or BB will loose market share fast as more average Joes come to smart phones. Like my curve a lot, but what can a tour change for me that this guy can't already do? N900 and more phones like it will soon be that part of the market that BB currently is.

I think this phone looks cool. Over recent times I've began to really get annoyed by RIM, so I've put a few line on this article if anyone wants to read. A lot of this are the reasons that I've pre-ordered this device. I usually NEVER pre-order !!!

Thanks

I swore off Nokia after the 5800. That and they still haven't verified there will be a US 3g band version other than tmobile anyways.

Nokia has a history of releasing a new device, using those people as guinea pigs, then releasing a slightly modified but newer version of the hardware that has the fixes you would have wanted in the original device.

I have heard the 5800 wasn't that great.
Have you tried the N97 ? I just picked one up if you can get one used at a good price it's a decent buy.

Nah, most of the people at dailymobile.se agree the N97 is *slightly* better, but at nearly triple the cost, there's no way it's worth it.

Also the N97 has the same processor as the 5800. They just underclocked the 5800 processor at launch, then bumped it back up later on with firmware v20 (kinda shady way to make the n97 look better).

I wouldn't pay retail for one, But hopefully with the N900 they have learned from all their mistakes.
