Looking through this forum, it is obvious there are plenty of us T-Mobilers who don't particularly feel like waiting potentially a year or more for this phone. When this phone eventually does get released to all the Canadian carriers (whom RIM generously decided NOT to exclude) in the coming weeks, I am curious as to which one, hardware-wise, would be best suited for T-Mobile USA. It has already been established that AT&T's 3G bands, as well as Rogers UMA, are not compatible with T-Mobile, but what about the other Canadian carriers? Any thoughts?

Wind Mobile is good to go with T-Mobile's bands.

And you can also see if Cincinnati Bell will be getting it, they use t-mo's bands.

Yeah but WIND most likely isn't getting the 9800 either... As Telus, Bell and Rogers are... Those three are all 850/1900, not 1700 like T-Mo and Wind

only Wind mobile uses AWS too, and they aren't getting the phone. pretty much the rest of the world uses 1, 2, 5, 6 spectrum.

The three major networks in Canada (Bell, Rogers, Telus) are 3G / HSPA like AT&T.

I hope tmobile get a 9100 or a refresh like a 9180 before they get the dang slider.

Hopefully, I'm going to pick up an AT&T 9800 when I'm down to Orlando on business the week of 23 August and unlock it for use on Bell Mobility! I say "hopefully" because I'm not sure what the stock will be like....

I bought a used tmobile 8520 to try out blackberry and it works with rogers uma with some tweaking. I would assume that u could tweak a rogers 9800 to use tmobiles uma settings.

Very interesting, I always read it wasn't possible. What kind of tweaking are we talking about here?

this was the site i followed:

apnaguy dot com Blog Archive Using UMA on a t-mobile branded curve 8900 on rogers sim

The hard part was finding the rogers certificate but its out there. Everytime you update your os you have to redo this process.
