Default Unlocked 3g

What would be my best bet for getting an unlocked 3G phone for Tmobile. I know they have some 3G phones in Whitemarsh MD but I am not fond of the ones they have (Samsung, HTC, etc) and I am specifically fond of Blackberry's and could be fond of the iPhone

Would you recommend the Bold unlocked, the Storm unlocked, the iPhone 3G unlocked, iPhone 3GS unlocked, or waiting for the 8960 and getting that unlocked

Given my BB and iPhone restraints. They would be my only options, correct?
Where would you get them and what would you recommend

Thanks so much

Just to let you know, an unlocked iPhone 3G/3GS and Bold or Storm won't have 3G on T-Mobile...

Well now, I am glad I found that out. The girl at 611 was telling me about everyone unlocking those specifically, and having a separate dept who handles customers needs with unlocked phones.

I know some people who work at the retail level, should have known , and from my experience as well that the people at 611 aren't as knowledgable about that.

Thanks so much

So I am SOL? I had heard that in the Q4 Tmo is expecting a BB that is 3G?

Night!!

T-mobile uses mostly 1700Mhz and possibly some of the 2100mhz spectrum for 3G. no other carrier uses the 1700 frequency and the 2100 is mostly used overseas. so basically, as of now, no other phone is going to cover the 1700 band unless its a T-mobile branded 3G enabled phone and only some other non t-mobile phones meant for the overseas market.

Wow . Thanks for that. I never would have known that or figured it out if I found It.

I guess I will wait.

I can't join ATT, been with Tmo since Voicestream and most importantly they have what I need the mostt 1500 + 100 = 1600 min for 59.99 + 34.95

I can't justify 80 + 30 + 20 for 1350 min when Half the time I go over. I think for me and a lot the rollover min is a waste...IMHO

Besides being on limited means and ending up with a limited amt when all is said and done that is a Big difference

Thanks again so so much

also, i think t-mobiles 3G coverage is shady and not even available in most markets yet. mostly only metropolitan areas.

Thanks Dictoresno. They said it is in Whitemarsh MD 21236 but you very aptly provided the biggest reasons of why I shouldn't / can't get those phones.

take care

no problem. i think tmobile really limited themselves by using the 1700/2100 mhz band for 3G while everyone else uses 850/1900 in north america. however, they came across a really good deal with the FCC who was selling the spectrum so they didnt wanna pass it up. the only bad thing is its a whole new cellular band, where no one really makes any phones yet that cover that band. and i highly doubt anyone will considering only one US carrier uses it as a 3G band. the only ones that will are the tmobile branded phones, like i said. unless you get a specific tmo 3G phone from them, no other GSM phone on the market will cover 1700mhz yet.
