Default Should I Be Worried About Buying This 8320 Curve?

Theres a guy who works for T-Mobile that wants to trade me a new, unlocked 8320 Curve for my iphone (I'm on AT&T and they only offer the 8310 without Wi-Fi). I am assuming he can get the Curve cheaper with employee discount than he would pay for a used iphone online (~$350 for mint condition like mine).

So basically, he buys a new phone without a contract for discounted price, unlocks it, mails it to me and I verify that it works with my SIM. If all is fine and dandy, I send him my iphone in the mail.

It all sounds good but I am wondering if my phone will somehow get locked down later on, because he bought it discount and unlocked it, and it was never used on T-Mobile.. I don't want to get stuck with a dead phone after shipping out my iPhone. I am not familiar with any of the rules and regulations that exist.

BTW - this will be my first blackberry so it's pretty exciting. Let me know what you all think.. should I go through with this deal? Is it too good to be true?

I don't see any reason why you should have anything to fear. He is taking the chance of sending you his (new) phone before you send off yours. You'll be using that phone on AT&T I presume, so it's a matter of using your sim card on AT&T. Have the phone checked when it gets to you if it makes you feel comfortable.

good idea. I can just take it into the AT&T store and have them activate it with my SIM card and add the data plan on. If everything works out then I don't see any future problems.

I think you should be good to go. I agree the other person is taking the risk hoping you follow thru with your side (Iphone)...

Good Luck

he should send the code and instructions just incase for some reason a problem arises and you will not have to worry about it

hey man, i was just reading through that discussion you guys were having and if you have an 8320 i was hoping you could help me out. i downloaded the drivers and whatnot from the HANDANGO website from my phone to try to have some various apps put on my phone. i did the install and everything was fine and approx 2 hrs later i was talking and the backlight just went out. i tried to reset by taking out the battery and i have backed up already. i can still recieve calls, make calls using the "voice dialing" feature, but that is about it. do you have any ideas? like i said, i have already backed up and restored my phone. HELP!!!
