I haven't seen much about this on my search for 'voice dialing' - I can't imagine there isn't other people complaining about this. My voice dialing feature NEVER gets what I'm saying, half the time I'm lucky if it's in the top three options that pop up. Does no one else have this problem? It's horribly ineffective if this is how the system is supposed to work.

Voice Dialing works best when you have both the first and last name in the address book. Once you get the quirks of it, you will find that it can be your best friend, especially if you live in California when the new headset law goes into effect in July.
You may need to adjust the sensitivity setting also, especially if you have an accent (I know, no one ever thinks they have an accent).
I used to do voice recognition device training (teaching devices to recognize speech said with different voices) for AT&T/Bell Labs. Most boring job I ever had.
I had the same experience as the OP. Haven't removed it from the app list yet, but have never gotten it to work either in any useful way. It wasn't important to me, so I gave up figuring I'd come back to it some day.
and it works great on my Curve 8310 because I did the following:
1. In Voice Dialling options I set my sensitivity to -3 reject less
2. I disabled my audio prompts (no more "Say a command" etc), name playback, and digit playback
As above put full names in your address book and include the specific number you want to call eg. Call Tom Selleck, mobile
I get it more than 95% of the time on the first try
I've been meaning to b!tch about this as well, since VAD was great on my RAZR, and I use it all the time with my blue tooth ear peice while driveing (as everyone should).
