I was looking at my phone last night and realized that the black paint was coming off the ridge of the "4 S" key???? Now my Tour did this but not till after almost a year of use and I have not even had this Bold 2 weeks yet.

    Anyone else having this problem?????

Nope but you can take it into the store... Most likely will exchange it, but as long as there is not major damage to the device if it was dropped.

My keys are fine. I'd try taking it back to the store.

WOW, you must be a super texter.............LOL, or just a fluke with the keyboard. Seriously though, I'd say it's just a fluke, but let us know how the new one works out.

yes, I have nails ... however, i'm not 'scratching' the keys with said nails.... lol. so, 2 weeks is pretty quick for the paint to chip, I'd think ... but, maybe I just expect too much. just for reference - my nails are not LONG nails - but, just like men, I have nails ... Truly, my nails are prob no longer than yours - they are just painted more nicely ... lol

No matter that was still really quick! I guess we will see how the new one does. Kind of strange that it only one key???

cmfoster, was it the same key on yours?

    Sounds like a paint defect.

Very strange! I hope its just a paint defect. I will be very annoyed if this happens to another one. The keyboards should hold up better than this.

I kinda doubt the keyboard part is really any different from the 9000, 9630, 9700 etc (other than the size of the part perhaps for the 9000).

So odds are the same type of keyboard has been in use a long time.

Yep - and, with similar results (maybe not widespread, but there none the less):

Yeah, it's just a small rate of paint defect with the keyboard parts probably.

Plenty of people have had the 9700 for close to a year now and the issue would have shown up in a matter of weeks or a couple months at best. You'll notice how many people immediately jump to the conclusion that all the BB's of that model are like this based off nothing...

Yeah - prob not that widespread - but, such is my luck ... I can never understand how I am 'lucky' about stuff like this ... yet, can't win the lottery! Truly - it is amazing to me!

Something regarding my "B" key was misaligned and wasn't always registering. Had to have them repair it today. Mass production has it's problems for sure.

Did another search - and, it is actually rather common (a good number of people posting about it as an issue) on the 9000... go figure!

Not a huge deal - as long as I can see the keys - but, still a bit disappointing ... Going to be extremely diligent to not allow myself to hit the keys with anything other the pads of my fingers! lol

No - I'd definitely agree with that - not like they do anything so drastically different in the BB keypads... than other keypads for other devices.

I just noticed it was happening on my #2 key. This is so annoying. I don't have time to be calling vzw arguing with them to send me a new phone bc of this. Lol. I was hoping this phone would be put together a little more though. It's technology what can ya say Lol.
