    updated the instructions

    OTA Instructions
    - Install the BBM6 OTA: Download Here (May ask for keycode)
    - Install the BBID OTA: Download Here
You should now have an icon that does not open. To correct this, follow the next step.
-Using BBHTool, BBSAK, or BBMCP, install these files to your device: Download Here
    Files included are:
    net_rim_bbapi_blackberrymessenger.cod
    net_rim_bbapi_contactlinking.cod
net_rim_bbapi_sendmenu.cod (seems to help fix on older OSs)
    - On reboot, you should now have BBM6.

    Desktop Instructions
Download the Desktop install for BBM6: Download Here

    Loader Install:
    - Drag the contents of the download above into the OS folder your are installing.
    - Plug in your device and run Loader.exe
    - Install BlackBerry Messenger as you would normally
    - On reboot, you should now have BBM6.

    JavaLoader.exe Install:
    - Plug in your device
    - Launch Install.bat
    - On reboot, you should now have BBM6.

    Confirmed working on:
    9800 6.0.0.526 leak

    9700 6.0.0.499 (With full .524 Java swap)

    I didn't have to install:

    net_rim_bbapi_blackberrymessenger.cod
    net_rim_bbapi_contactlinking.cod
net_rim_bbapi_sendmenu.cod (seems to help fix on older OSs)

I did have BBID installed already and tried to install BBM 6 yesterday (failed miserably) before .526 for 9800 was leaked.

******EDIT I now see the differences after more research...Thanks!! I followed the steps above and it actually shows the new version in my info but I don't really see a difference from the old bbm. Did I perhaps do something wrong or is there not really much difference?

I can confirm that this method worked like a charm on my 2 9780s

You can add it to the compatbility list if you wish

I did the BBM6 OTA download, was not asked for keycode. Rebooted the device and my BBM icon was gone.
Downloaded the OTA BBID file, BBM icon returned.

    Used BBSAK to install net_rim_bbapi_contactlinking.cod
    net_rim_bbapi_blackberrymessenger.cod
    net_rim_bbapi_sendmenu.cod

device rebooted after installing the .cod files, but i still can't open the BBM icon.

    No

It's waaaaaay to early to comment..., but I think it's causing a bit of memory leak.

well i got it installed. i notice two things...

1.) upon reboot, it takes a few seconds for the BBM icons for friends to show up

2.) if i send a BBM right away after bootup it goes to a clock and takes a few seconds/minutes to send. after that, it seems to work ok.

    anyone else see that happen?

i guess you opened your pictures first then chose the option "send to bbm contact" r8?

that happened to me as well. However, if you send the picture from bbm instead of media then it would be ok... so, open your bbm.. open the contact that you want to send the pic to.. then choose send image... then browse the image from there... it'll work..
