# Install instruction to load any carrier 9630 OS on your BB:
1. Download desired OS to your PC
2. Install/run OS to PC
3. Delete vendor.xml file. It's located in c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader
4. Connect the BB to Desktop Manager and it should prompt the upgrade. If not click Loader.exe and that should initialize it.
5. Do not unplug your BB during the process. It will take around 30-60 minutes to complete the upgrade
Thank you! When I see the sticky at the top of the forum it just makes me feel like all the info is old. I made a post earlier for the sticky to be removed/changed, but all I heard was crickets...
Question, I do all the above instructions, as follows, I cant seem to get Desktop Manager to recognize the new software,nor the Loader.exe file, can anyone help.
Some folks suggest that you stop your internet connection. In some versions, it appears Desktop Manager may also check to see if there's an update. Also, search your computer completely for the vendor.xml file - some have found a second copy.
If someone would like to post or set up a mirror or 2 I would add them to the OP. Thanks
I would welcome a direct link, as with RIM's indirect link I can't use a re-connectable download manager...I've tried to get the MTS version many many times, and keep losing the connection...
Also, be aware that the MTS version of .419 is a different size than the leaked Beta...
MTS = 103,385kb
Beta = 103,362kb
While a modified splash screen/wallpaper may account for some changes in individual file sizes, it's more likely that there are many changes in the MTS OS from the Beta...Some processes optimized; features in the Beta which were disabled for testing are enabled; different presets in the radio/browser; changed samples in audio/video; etc...
It would be worth doing a comparison of the two...

Your instructions were exact to the tee! I followed every step and I was able to upgrade to 5.0, the only extra step I had to do was unplug/replug my usb cable when it didnt recognise my pin then everything worked flawlessly!
ok ok ok, NO Extra Vendor file, and tried theZERO internet, still doesnt recognize it.
It was difficult to locate the vender file at first glance but i scrolled through and found it at the very bottom. Not sure if this will help but once DM didn't recognize the new software, I closed out of it, quickly unplug/repluged the usb from my BB, then clicked on Loader.exe file and the download started. Good luck!
Returned to 9630 Forum, and sticked! 1 caution thou, I have heard that this version DOES have issues so please proceed with caution and do the research before installing. Also if someone can setup a megaupload or rapid share mirror that would be good because sometimes it's difficult for those on carriers to get the official IF their carrier has not released it. Remember to delete the vendor xml also.

I don't know why you would say this. I am running a hybrid from BBHybrids, and it smokes! I have d/l speeds of 6000-8000, and no problems whatsoever. I guess you are entitled to your opinion, though.
