Prefer the larger screen on the Pre tbh.

Sounds like the Pre is faster, better camera and wifi for not much more...

You are right, only thing is i hate that Turtle form factor of the Pre and small keyboard. If the Pixi was atleast the size of the Bold or previous Treo's it would have been a must have for me. I'm starting to wonder about these people who design these phones man. Do they purposely just make stuff to annoy gadget heads?

Pretty sure the Pixi is a Centro-type target group, so yeah they're not targeting us on that one.

Absolutely is, only problem is the Centro group has already moved on to Blackberries, iphones, and Android. I can see women getting this device though. They just need a top of the line web os hardware that screams wow if they want to get back some market share. The OS from what i've been reading has been excellent. They should let HTC start designing phones for Web Os like they did with the Treo's. Think im still a palm guy at heart but they are still gonna be held to the standards that i hold all other phones.

Here's my quick break down on the Pre:

-It's probably my favorite phone I've owned so far, which says a lot.
-It has very little "desirability" factor just looking at it, or using it shortly, which is very bad. You basically have to own it to enjoy it. I was fairly anti-Pre up to this point, and I think I was correct in terms of what everyone else will expect and assume on this phone and the Pixi. But I was wrong as to how much I ended up liking it.
-Keyboard is pretty small, but usable for me, even though my hands are pretty big. There's something to be said for the portrait slider, I actually like it *better* than landscape... Why? Most of the time on other phones I am forced to switch to landscape, simply because that orientation is required for the keyboard. Most of the time I use the devices in portrait mode when not using the keyboard anyways... The Pixi has the larger keyboard, but at the sacrifice of the screen, which is bad imo because webOs is all about the screen...

That said the OS is not perfect, but a lot of stuff can be fixed with homebrew patches. Palm needs to work on the app limit issue though...

Interesting gonna a take a look into it, also have to do some research to see what palm has coming up as their next Web OS phone. Did you get the seidio extended battery for it? I think that would be a must have.

Yeah, just waiting on the delivery. Supposedly the extended battery door backing is a lot better than the oem shiny plastic.

Just got the Seidio battery, going to have to agree with what people said about it. The extended battery backing feels better in hand than the OEM. It's nice having matte instead of shiny and the phone is easier to hold. It actually feels more comfortable and makes typing a little easier.

Size increase really isn't that bad at all since the phone i so slim OEM. Battery results are gonna take a matter of days to sort out.

One thing that is noticeable is the weight increase, the new battery is pretty heavy.

Size difference (note, this is actually the Amzer 2800mah battery, looks similar to the Seidio 2600mah. I would recommend the Seidio because you can get it for about $50 vs $80 for the Amzer):

Not really a huge increase as you can see.

Suede, that battery is crucial based on reports ive read. Was in the Sprint store today to play around with the pre and the pixi and man was i wrong about the design of the phone. Pictures on the computer do it no justice at all. It's really much smaller in person and looks way better than pics on the net show of it. It actually doesn't have much of a turtle shape in person. I played around with it for a while and loved it except once again for the keyboard. Man i tried my hardest to get used to it but it just wasn't happening for me. I even got one of the reps to let me use their pre with the on screen keyboard installed but much more typos than with the hardware keyboard. The pre is a small neat phone just wished the keyboard was bigger. I was totally wrong about this phone. Oh and you were right about the vertical slider being much better than the horizontal ones. Thats the reason i don't use my TP2 as much nowadays, i hate horizontal (landscape) sliders. Wondering if i could force myself to get used to the keyboard of the pre as i haven't heard anything about any upcoming web os phones.

The Pix is a no no for me. Screen is too small, phone is too light in the hands, keyboard too small, excellent form factor but the pre is a better phone.

So far the battery is at least doubling the battery life of the OEM battery and this is the first charge, so the battery isn't really broken in. I'm still at 80% after 7 hours being in areas with poor signal, signed on to AOL, sms occasionally, wifi and some browsing.

Yeah the virtual keyboard is a ghetto patch at this point, not reliable for anything other than extremely short messages and only works properly with fingertips, not your thumbs. Hopefully palm implements an actual VK (or the patch gets improved for accuracy, since I'm pretty sure the problem is the VK itself).

The device and screen are great, but yeah you have to use it. It's unappealing from the pics.

I'd just see if you can spend some time with the hardware keyboard to see if you can get used to it before pulling the trigger. Definitely not as good as my BB's, but I do pretty well and type plenty of sms and long emails.

Forget the cramped keyboard it was beginning to cramp my hands typing on it lol. I didn't make as much mistakes as i thought i would but i would have to type slowly and after a while i got frustrated because i i wanted to go faster but couldn't. They could have made the keyboard atleast the size of the tour. Ever since the centro palm's keyboards have been going down hill.

Not a real fix, but the thicker battery door from the extended battery makes the typing less cramped, since the phone is larger to hold.
