What does this version do for you over the shipping version? If I got mine yesterday would it be worth it to upgrade right away?

This OS should have the browser security patch.

Correction! The security patch for 4.6.1 will start with .309 OS. Oops!

It does not have the patch, and explaining differences in the OS would require knowledge of which OS you currently run. If it's 4.5, primarily more file free memory, more speed and more stability.

Default Installation

Hi,

I have followed the instructions below, however the new version will not install. The installation process goes fine without any error messages, however when I check the device software afterwards I see that the device did not update to the new version.

I have done restart, taken the battery out and removed the old version from the computer. But not sure what else to do??

Please help

There's probably not much difference between this OS, and the one you currently are running, considering the newness of the device. However, I would have to guess you are using DM 4.7 or 5.0, and with the internet connected, it may be going to your provider site and using theirs instead. Try disconnecting the web, and using apploader.exe to install the OS.

Default Installation/ caller ID

I disconnected the net but still no luck. I am not too bothered about having this version however I have a problem with the caller ID. If the number is stored in +countrycode-areacode-number. I do not get the name I only get the number. In another discussion I read that someone had the same problem and this OS solved the problem.

I have tried everything else, setting the lengh, in smart dail. Security setting and so on, but no luck.

Please help

I've got a sim-free 8520 and using it with STC. I've got a mac and this update is an .exe file which doesn't run on Mac. How can I update my phone now?

Try changing the national number length default to whatever it is for you. In the US it would be 10. Or check this:

If you want to remove all your settings, you'll also remove all your personal info. What exactly are you looking to do here?

Only way to upgrade on a Mac at present is to run a Microsoft simulator. Not knowing much about Mac, I'd hate to try and steer you through it, but the simplest thing to do is borrow a friends PC, and do it there.

Run a search on your PC for vendor.xml. Be sure to search for hidden files, and delete any vendor.xml files you find.

They should have been backed up first, but if you run loader.exe, and they don't show, go to the vendors you purchased them from, and you should be able to install them again for free.
