Is this version posted somewhere else like rapidshare? I'm on an unreliable connection and the above link don't seem to support resuming downloads and I always get a time out error after reaching around 90%.

Never mind. Downloaded it after a lot of tries. Battery life seems better on this one.

Apart from the battery, I am yet to find a single visible difference. May not be worth your time if you are not having battery life issues like I was. I have not experienced any issue with lags like some else mentioned. Stable and quick(at least as much as previous version), wouldn't do any harm to upgrade if you are curious and have a little time to spare.

Hi guys,
Yesterday (11 Nov 09) i installed this new OS (.314) in my 8520 after updated it in DM.
After installing the new OS, I tried to run all my existing apps.
However, most of them turned out to be in error and cannot be run.
I then remove one of them through DM and a reboot is needed.
After rebooting, an error occured; Reload Software 552 and my BB now cannot start (something like the OS is missing/the BB is just a hardware without any software).
I then referred to online BlckBerry tech support and followed a few steps to "get back" the OS.
Right now, I'm reconfiguring my BB as if I've just bought a new one.

My question is, does all these happen because of the new OS ver .314? Hence, stability issue?
Or is it just my fault something somewhere?

Thanks.

This update isn't worth it, the only thing it did for me was increased battery life.
The phone locks up twice a day having to do a battery pull, and in bbm it doesn't show what you're typing... and another reset is necessary. The interface seems a lot sluggish now, and I'm noticing lag without any 3rd party apps open. I'm the type of person that has only one thing open at a time. Overall, it doesn't seem to bother me since I'm used to the older generation blackberries, but I think I'm going to keep it just for the battery life >=]
Another thing is that when you press the standby button to get out of standby the media app automatically starts up everytime... so another reset after that is necessary.

It's strange that some you are experiencing stability issues with the upgrade. My phone does not have any issue with the standby button. It just wakes up the phone just the way it's supposed to. Zero resets till now too. The previous version did two restarts without any warning (over a period of two weeks). Considering how long the phone takes to start up it was pretty annoying. This upgrade has been totally worth the time for me. I'm not sure about the BBM though. I've never used it! So I can't really comment on anything related to it.

Same here, no such problems.

But I guess I was wrong about battery life. I see now it is not lasting the full 5 days it used to. I do have more free memory (fluctuates around the 122-131 mb) than before thou.

Gonna hold on to it till next version is up, which I very much hope will be the 5.0.

This os may not be worth the upgrade. The battery life is ok but the os has some glitches. Pressing the play button will bring up the media folder regardless of how you're using the button (coming out of standby mode, pausing pandora) and while typing in the bb messenger, your text will disappear if something changes (like the person your having a conversation starts typing). None of that occurs with the leaked 5.0 os.

What I don't understand is, why is the OS only for a certain carrier :S why not bring it out for all?
