Did you get the 9700 at Costco or other t-mobile store?

I paid far too much for it. Total rip off, but I didn't have much of a choice. Stranding at the airport with a faulty Nokia in dire need of you own phone does that to you, sometimes. I ended up at a store with these phones and bought their "offer" for 319 euros. It came with a 16GB SD card, so the rip off wasn't that bad. Apart from the SRT (399), I've never seen it offered for so much.
Store name? Capi at Amsterdam airport, Holland.

Edit: I should add that this phone sells for 249 euros or cheaper, unlocked any place else. And I believe BB doesn't recommend a price as high as the airport shop did.

I paid $149 w/ 2 year contract through U.S. Cellular. But after the mail-in rebate it'll drop to me only paying $79
(It's brand new to my carrier. 8530 Release date for USC: Dec 11th)

That's too bad. You can usually get it for upgrade pricing ($129.99) even if you're mid-contract. You just gotta go to the customer retention/loyalty department and they'll usually set you up.

I was 1 year into my 2 year contract and I got the 8900 at the upgrade pricing ($149.99) and just had to "renew" the 2 year contract, which basically just added another year.

I got my wife the 8520 the same way. Never pay full price; the cost of monthly service charges is where they make their money, not off the phones.
