Tour vs Bold or Curve 8900
- The Tour is bigger than the Curve, but smaller than the Bold. Has the internal specs of a Storm. Basically, it will be a Storm with a keyboard.05-16-09 10:08 AMLike 0
- actually, as of right now, the Curve is at the top of the charts then any other bb ever. The curve even beats the Iphone in terms of how many are sold.
I expect when the tour comes out, it will also be at the very top of the list.
Bold was for people who have big fingers, curve was for people with small fingers, Tour is a phone that can fit big and small fingers since its bigger then the curve but a little smaller then bold, so I expect this phone to be a big seller.05-16-09 10:18 AMLike 0 - actually, as of right now, the Curve is at the top of the charts then any other bb ever. That's why its so popular.
There isn't going to be 5 96xx Tours, so it won't be the most sold phone.05-16-09 10:27 AMLike 0 - I would like to know though where the Tour falls in the lineup though with blackberrys?
Will the Tour be a better phone then the Storm? or will the tour be like another curve that will be sold cheeply over time?05-16-09 10:38 AMLike 0 -

theres no other way to explain it accept that it sits inbetween the BOLD and the CURVE 8900 -- thats where it sits in the lineup. Its a world phone. So if you want to compare it to current devices its more like the world edition.
Ill quote CX
its Verizonz flag ship blackberry so expect a flagship price05-16-09 01:19 PMLike 0 - It and the Pearl are also the only phones in the top 5 that aren't carrier specific. It is also the 2nd cheapest in the top 5 (behind only the Pearl which blows) which is a HUGE reason it is #1. Selling more phones doesn't mean it is a better phone. I have a curve and love it, but it isn't the phone that some of the others do. It is just more available and MUCH cheaper05-16-09 05:48 PMLike 0

- The Tour has 3G speeds which aren't that much slower than WiFi and also you need to be in a hot spot to use the 8900's WiFi ability. The tour may not have WiFi, but it will have 3G all the time. I am willing to bet the average blackberry user is not in a hot spot more often than they are.
The Tour is basically a cross between the 8900 & the Storm with a Bold keyboard. It has more app memory than the storm, like the 8900, but it has 3G like the storm.05-17-09 03:30 PMLike 0 - The Tour has 3G speeds which aren't that much slower than WiFi and also you need to be in a hot spot to use the 8900's WiFi ability. I don't understand why everyone who uses WiFi assumes that it's essential for everyone to have. I have never used a device with WiFi and I see no reason to. For me, WiFi has no meaning or use whatsoever and there are many people who feel the same. Just because the 8900 has WiFi doesn't make it a better device than the Tour which will not have WiFi, and vice-versa. It depends on each persons needs. Therefore WiFi does not have the ability to make an actual device better or worse. It can however, make the service better or worse.
If I had to answer the original question that the first person asked, which specifically stated no specs and detailed info...I'd say that the Tour is (allegedly) on par with the Bold. So depending on whether you want a CDMA device or GSM is the deciding factor.
Curve 8900 (which I'm sure is a dandy phone) doesn't even fit into this equation unless you have to have the smallest possible device out of the 3.Last edited by Bittersweet BB; 06-02-09 at 10:53 AM.

I wish my 8330 was REV A. For some unknown reason, they didn't include it.06-02-09 11:55 AMLike 0 - What gets me about these threads is that the phones are on different networks. If you don't care if you use AT&T, T-Mobile, or Verizon, then I can see choosing a carrier based on the phone they offer.
BUT, if you want to stay with Verizon, your choice is the Tour - you won't get a Bold or 89xx with Verizon (until the 8930 makes its debut). If you are on AT&T, you can't get a Tour. T-Mo's only choice is the 8900.06-02-09 12:39 PMLike 0 - It is 3G - Verizon's entire network is 3G capable: on CDMA its called EVDO. The question is will it be REV A? If so, data through put goes up dramatically. If not, it is no faster than the 8330.
