The 9630 is definately much faster then the 8330. First off, it supports EVDO Rev. A, which is rated at 3.1mb/s 3G speed (correct me if im wrong!) a better processor, a newer OS with a much better interface then the older 4.5 os, autofocus camera which, speaking from experience is GREAT (the 8900 has the same one), the fact that even though you may be signed up to a CDMA carrier, you can still roam all over the world with GSM networks, battery life may probably not last as long as your curve because the tour is a powerhorse .. hmmm what else ... it has no wifi, which for me is a big turnoff, i don't know why they would leave that out, it's really all thats missing!
Oh, and it definately looks sexy.

I have the 8320, which is pretty much the same phone, but I have wifi on mine. If your curve still works- don't upgrade. Yes, the tour is a better phone. Its faster, can run OS 5.0 and has a better camera (plus more!) But, RIM will put another phone out 6 months later.
If the curve works, don't replace it. Its a tried and true device. Look at the people who rused to get the Storm, hated it, and went back to their 83XX's.
Think about it.

Thanks for replys...
Ya that's some of the things I needed to know
RIM might come out with a new one but not sure if Sprint will. So I am looking just for a change.
Does anyone have any side by side specs?

THe next 4G(HSPA) will get the 3.1 mb/s. The actual network is 3G, so the Tour can't go faster than the network! |

If you're happy with your Curve then don't upgrade.
I'm a Sprinter with a Curve 8330 and I can't stand the fossil. Its slow (hour glass party all day), browser svcks it, screen is anciently low res, its slow, keyboard isn't great, its slow... I'll probably be all over the 9630 from day one. But if you dig your Curve then rock on. Save your money for the next Sprint Blackberry in 2012.

- Faster processor
- 256MB of Application storage space (8330 has 96MB and 8330m has 128MB)
- Will definitely be upgradeable to OS5 when available, Curve may not be (but I'm thinking the 8330m will be able to cause of extra memory)
- International 3G support with the 2100 UMTS band, so you can have 3G data speed abroad if supported where you are at. Also Edge support anywhere available.
- EVDO RevA
- The keyboard will be the nicer 8830/Bold type
Plus it is possible, that depending on how unlocked the GSM portion is, you may be able to use this on T-Mobile or AT&T or prepaid GSM service domestically with respective SIM card, but I haven't heard one way or the other yet. If it could, it would be handy to have if you were ever in an area of the US for an extended period of time that had no CDMA coverage but did have GSM coverage.
It will be the best CDMA Blackberry probably for a while. Only other one confirmed now is the Storm2, and who knows if Sprint will see that.

basically nothing. i would save my money if i were you. (That's what I'm going to do). This small upgrade isn't worth my 200+ dollars.. I'm waiting until RIM comes out with a REAL UPDATED PHONE!

I'm waiting until RIM comes out with a REAL UPDATED PHONE! | Thats a little shocking to hear someone say. 9630 Tour performance is reported to be "on par" with the 9000 Bold. Have you used your 8830 side-by-side with a Bold? If you don't think the performance alone is a "real upgrade" then maybe you should try Apple's iToy and just go off in a totally different direction.
