Where was your Tour made? There has to be a reason why some phones are muffled while others aren't. You should be able to find where it was made on the inside of the phone - just open up the battery cover and remove the battery and it'll be listed on one of the stickers, like "Canada 1" or "Mexico 5" or whatever.

    I have a Canada 1 phone, and I experience:

    - Loose battery door
    - Sticky trackball
    - Average battery life (not like some who say they get 3 days out of theirs... but this might not have anything to do with the phone)

My call quality is excellent, however.

My Tour was made in Canada also, I just suffer from the loose back door but it isnt too bad. My battery life is good, my trackball is good, the OS is fast with no pauses, and my call quality is great. I love my new Tour.

Two Canada 1's and both behaved differently.
    1. muffled calls, great trackball, no lag or lockups and snug battery door, phone got ridiculously hot.
2.good calls, mushy and sandpaper trackball, lags and lockups and loose battery door, nice and cool.

Both are Canada's finest with totally different results.

Damn, well it looks like where it was made doesn't have an impact on call quality or the other issues. Thought it could be an easy fix... oh well.

I did a test with voicemail.

I have the Automatic Volume Control on.

When I send myself a voicemail with the handset, I have gurgly and mumbling even though I speak clearly. And when I use the BB headset, I sound much much clearer.

    SUCKS.

    Ok, here we go again

    Mexico5

1- Everyone is telling me I sound muffled, some even keep saying "say again" I am new to BB, any settings I should look at to fix the issue?

2- Loose battery door, I guess it was fine and I was happy but with the muffled voice quality I am thinking about talking with Sprint tech support.

Everything else is great, good battery live, etc......

    Mine's a Canada 1:

    Muffled audio on phone
Loose battery door (moves what, maybe a .5mm?)
Initially had a good bit of lag, but that's almost completely gone, understand that may be the norm as my Curve did that when I got it.
Seems to take quite a while to restart (upwards of 4 or 5 minutes, not explicitly timed it though)
Signal is pretty good, works better at my house than my Curve did

I'm pretty happy with the phone, with the exception of the loose battery door & the muffled audio on the phone. I can live with the little bugs for now. I'm hoping Seidio comes out with a replacement back door like they did for my curve, that might fix the problem and make the phone stay where I put it and not slide around as much.

Just talked to advanced blackberry support about the battery cover and muffled voice, he issued a replacement, the Tour is in stock and it ships fast, but really hate to go through replacing a phone and setting everything up again.

    Muffle sound absolutely terrible!!!
Hopefully new rom will fix....after all that's one major reason we own BBs..Excellent sound quality.
If no fix is made available my 9630 will be on Craigslist fast.

    Mexico 5:
muffled sound quality (i really hope it's fixed in an OS or something)
5-10 minute boot up (after battery pull, etc)
pretty good battery door (it wasn't moving when i got it, but it started to budge the more and more i used it)
vibrate is decent. not as strong as my dumbphone, but it can still wake me up in the middle of the night if i get a text/BBM

    I dropped 4.5-138(net_rim_bb_call_control.cod) file into 4.7 .java.
Unfortunately it made no difference ,Muffle sound still present.

Noise canceling has to be causing this issue..once its found and removed ,replace 4.5 file muffle should be no more
