Telus subscriber getting anxious by

[Reply] Ok...I'm new to this "waiting for the latest Blackberry" thing. But I truly have become as obsessed about this as anything in the history of mankind!! I've been lurking this board multiple times a day for months.
I am confident that Crucial knows exactly what he's talking about. But with only 10 real days to go until the expected Telus release, and no official announcement that this phone even exists...I'm getting nervous.
Typically, what has been the shortest lead time a carrier has given for the announcement of a new phone? Especially one as anticipated as this one?
Is it unusual that we haven't heard anything yet?? Please...someone, put my mind at ease!

keep in mind that its only anticipated in this atmosphere..
the rest of the world has no clue yet..
think of the announcement of the pearl flip to when its getting released...
I wouldn't be to worried its more likely that telus will ship ontime then verizon but even verizon looks pretty solid..
they could announce a phone 2 days before launch if they wanted.. they probably wont wait that long just saying it could happen

:-)

[Reply] It's not unusual to see a new phone just show up on the Telus website one day without too much warning. I highly doubt the 9630 will get the same hype the Storm did.

thats kind of my point to..
the storm was a huge consumer based phone it was a real dive into the consumer touch screen deal..
the tour is a phone thats going to sell mad units just because its a top of the line business blackberry...
companys will be buying this phone for there employee's
and the cell company's will easily make there quota's on the tour...
saying they wont advertise it at all is a joke but saying there going to spend the money on advertising like they did with the storm is also a joke

:-)

[Reply] I appreciate the calming words. I got a 8330, my return policy ends on the 21st...so I'm REALLY counting on the date. Can't go back to my broken 7250 now!!

Precisely!
That's exactly what happened with the release of the RAZR V3c. While most enthusiast knew about its impending drop date, there was no concrete announcement until it 'just showed-up' on the Telus website.
Based on the targeted demographic for this phone, I wouldn't suspect much 'regular consumer' -based advertising for this phone. Be certain that once announced, RIM and the carriers will be pumping this phone to their corporate clients however.

[Reply] Is there a chance they will release it on their website and corporate stores prior to third party sellers like Best Buy and Future Shop?

[Reply] This is my first time going after a brand new device. What's the best way to get one?
1. Go to your local carrier store(Telus), get on a waiting list, hope they get some on day one?
2. Order on the website, hopefully you can pick it up somewhere, otherwise wait for delivery?
Anyone who has done this before, let me know. It's getting close to drop day and I want to be ready.
