The CBeyond is newer. yaw1800, you are referring to the package version *.77 which is firmware version *.40 (the oldest available firmware).

4.7.1.65 is the most recent one I've seen (other than the leaked 5/hybrid OS'es).

Pardon me if I just don't get what you mean here but, how can this be an OFFICIAL update if it's not from RIM or my carrier. I just checked via the Verizon site and DM and neither shows any updates since Nov. 19. I know CBeyond is on the BB site but I don't know who/what this is. Can someone please explain?

If you read a little better, he simply stated that he found it on CBEYOND. The link is directly to blackberry.com

No need to be such a **** about my question. Yes, I can read! And I can even understand the English language! But, the OP stated the following: Just found an official os 4.7.1.65 for Tour. So, why don't YOU get off my back and let someone who wants to clarify the OP's statement speak rather than just putting me down for asking a question.

seems like "official os" these days means put out by RIM and approved by at least one carrier, not necessarily your own.

    Calm down, kids!

Tawnia, I have to admit it is a little surprising that you have 260+ posts but have never read anything about what makes an OS "official."
That being said, my understanding is that RIM (BlackBerry) releases the OS upgrades to the carriers. The carriers put it through their own tests and decide whether or not to release. Sometimes by the time they decide, a newer version is out so they might decide to hold off on releasing and test the newer one. Verizon and Telus are famous for taking a very long time to release an upgrade. (Telus is probably the only major North American carrier with .40 as their official OS for the Tour...)

All OS's are official releases from RIM whether or not a particular carrier decides to distribute it to its customers.
You must delete the Vendor file from the download before installing if the OS from a different carrier.
Also, I have found you must download via Internet Explorer and NOT Firefox even if that's your PC default browser.

Search for installing an OS for better instructions.

    Here they are:
Cbeyond Small Business Phone Systems & Service Solutions

It's funny: they actually don't have the Tour listed in their BlackBerry section yet. Update your website, people!

Took the plunge and upgraded from .57. So far so good, seems to have a little more file free after reboot.

It did have the Chinese characters included, but I can't answer your question as I removed them from before installing to my Tour. (Don't use them - rather have the memory!)

I have a suspicion that this is just how it will work for SMS, but hopefully someone can give a definitive answer for you.
