You should be able to just install the Telus 5.0 over your MTS. A lot of people suggest wiping the device first, but it's up to you.
The MTS and the Telus are both.419. Doesn't that mean they are the same?
I've been wondering that myself. Now we have the .419 leak; official releases from MTS, SaskTel and Telus. Are the cores of these releases all the same? Do they differ only in the additional carrier crap put in?
FINALLY...now what do i do LOL....you DL, then it should update right? sorry 4 the noob q..ill proly end up searching AFTER i post this...haha im just happy that Telus dropped this...guess that means the Essex is right around the corner..boo jks
EDIT* I was going to DL the file..but I decided to plug into DM just to backup & when the updates page came up.it had the option to update to 5.0.XXXX so I just let it do that instead...and voila 5.0...seems faster already and that threaded sms is nice
so..after reading on BGR 5.2 is coming out soon and RIM is even working on 6.0 fun times ahead

You download it, install it on your PC and then update your Tour through loader.exe or DM (easier).
And it looks like the Essex is right around the corner...
Im gonna wait to see reviews i have the leak 5.0 on my tour for 2months running awesome so gonna wait and see if they added or took things out.. Post your reviews boys & girls...

I'm putting it on right now with Driphter's Dv5.1 hybrid.

Can someone answer this question?!?
According to a user on BBHybrids.net, the SFI file in the CDMA folder has a different "modified and created" date for the Telus and the Sask 419 OS' that were just released.
kind of disappointing, was hoping 419 wouldn't go official and they'd improve the battery drain and browser lag first.
Unfortunately the battery drain is largely a YMMV type of thing.. a recent survey in a different topic on this board confirmed that the majority actually AREN'T noticing a battery drain, so I don't think RIM will be addressing that any time soon..
Just sucks for users like you and me whose battery just shoots down to zero. I left Google Maps open over night (took it off the charger to check a text right before I went to bed, but it was 100% at that point) and woke up to the phone telling me it was shutting down because the battery was drained. About 7 hours of absolutely NO use except for Google maps on in the background, presumably keeping the GPS busy.
Shall I do the official? I have the .419 mts and the dv5.1(which actually personally is slowing down how the mts os was) should I just get the official? Probably gunna do it anyways now but any feedback so far?
You have to replace the Java folder in the official OS with Java folder from the hybrid. You can then shrink out the stuff that you don't want. Then you install that after.
Yeah verizon is ok just like any. Hey where do I go to find this under "run" and do i have to delete a vendor file like with mts? can't do this via DM so please walk me through this one.
