Install instruction to load any carrier 9630 OS on your BB:

    1. Download desired OS to your PC
    2. Install/run OS to PC
    3. Delete vendor.xml file. It's located in c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader

Don't know just yet. Downloading now. I surely HOPES that it fixes the large font issue within Messages.

Interesting. Though the version (4.7.1.65) is higher than the 4.7.1.61 currently out there for other carriers, the software platform version (4.1.0.78) in the CBeyond package is lower than that in Verizon's .61 package - VZ has a platform of 4.1.0.81.

As I'm running Verizon's official 4.7.1.65/4.1.0.81, I think I'm going to leave this one alone at least for now rather than downgrade the platform version unless someone uncovers a compelling fix in the CBeyond release.

The only annoyance I have with .61 is the font issue with Messages...seemingly HTML messages. I'm about to install now and see what the deal is.

Well, if it fixes the font size, I'll install it in a heartbeat. However, since it hasn't been in the past 5 months or so I'll admit to not being too optimistic it will. Would seem that this regression should be a rather high priority fix for RIM.

No such luck. OH well. Worth a shot. It did however, screw up all of my theme settings.

Nothing real noticeable so far. Memory is holding a bit better but that typically takes a few days to fully assess. The large font issue is NOT fixed. If you install, be mindful that your themes icon arrangement will be taken back to default even if you just do an upgrade.

How's this update working for ya? Is it worth jumping from .61?

Make sure all your tabs are closed on your computer including your desktop manager. After you download (I always save the file to desktop) double click the icon for the new software version and let it load to your computer. Do not open your desktop manager when the upload is done even though it asks if you want it to because this is when you go into your computer and delete the vendor file. Once you delete the file, then start up your desktop manager and hit cancel when it first asks you to update, then go to update software. It should be selectable at this point. Hope this helps. If anyone finds an error in this, please let me know since this blackberry thing is a never-ending learning experience

Pretty good. Like I said not HUGE fixes or differences, but if you need the latest official OS....GO FOR IT! Every since I installed, I'm consistently holding at 88ishMB all day, so so far so good.

I went from .57 to .65. Doesn't seem to be any major changes. Memory seems to hold steady. Battery life may have gone down a tiny bit...we'll see after a few days of use and checking Meterberry.

Brianohsocool: Try updating through Loader without going through DM. It's under the Apploader directory where vendor.xml is.

Thanks. May wait to see what comes next (Official 5.0 I hope). I am OS cursed and rarely have a "smooth" up/downgrade experience. So, I prefer to see a significant payoff for my troubles .

Yeah and it's just another unofficial RIM OS release, might as well stick 5.0 in rather then such a small leap.
