- I was wondering if Gmail is instant push using verizons BIS and if not how often the BIS servers check for email? How else would people use gmail, what is the app like and how does it interface with the phone. Is battery life the same regardless of what option i choose?07-09-09 09:24 PMLike 0

- I use an enterprise server and forward my gmail to MS Exchange. I then set my reply to address to my gmail address and it pushes perfectly. That also allows gmail to archive all my emails.
When I discovered how well this works, I got a huge *****.07-09-09 09:35 PMLike 0 -
Remember to set the reply to field to your gmail.
Works flawlessly.

- Mine pushes immediately using pop3. I actually get the emails on my BB a few seconds before they show up in the web interface.07-10-09 02:47 AMLike 0

I don't like using BB addy's because you can only access them from your phone. Gmail you can access from your phone or web.07-10-09 07:45 AMLike 0

I thought of that, but my email is specific to my business...and is also the name of the website so I can get people off ebay onto the site. So I need to have gmail only send specific emails related to EBAY...07-10-09 08:08 AMLike 0 -
I read that IMAP is only one way from the phone. And I don't want all my gmail coming to the phone, only ebay related questions from buyers....
Any way to do that?07-10-09 08:10 AMLike 0 -
As for only receiving ebay related questions, there is a BIS setup that you will use through verizon/blackberry (i think bis.verizonwireless.com..or something...google is your friend) that you can set all kinds of filters on, including what emails to send to your device.
Also, if you set up IMAP you should definitely set a filter to not send you emails from yourself, as if you don't, every time you send an email from your phone, you will receive the same email directly to your phone (this is because this is how gmail does the conversations...technically you are receiving the message that you sent...they just set it up nicely in the interface).
Long story short, I have found that if you use the filters on the BIS setting and use IMAP for gmail it is a great experience. The only thing with using IMAP instead of POP3 is that there can be up to about 15 minute delay in getting the email. This is a small price to pay for syncing read messages on the web interface.
I hope this makes any sense, it's still early where i'm at (and I should be working as well ;-)07-10-09 11:12 AMLike 0 - Thanks, has anyone tested these... the guy above the post says it can be a delay of 15 min... does that just mean he set it up wrong?
