| | Anyone else leaving verizon and getting the sprint tour?
am i the only person doing this? I got the storm right now and after 5 great months with it, it died and replacements have been awful. through both of my jobs, i get discounts with sprint/vzw/and att. i was gonna stay with vzw b/c they told me i could get the tour as a storm replacement by the cancellation department (i was calling to get my etf and my fiancee's etf). but then tech support gave me a nasty 'tude when i asked about the tour upgrade replacement.
now this isn't a "i'm mad at vzw so i'm leaving" kinda thing, but b/c of my discount, i can pay MUCH less per month AND i can port both my number and my fiancee's and get on a fam plan. right now she has a FL number and i have a PA number, but they said we can port together (so we'll save even more money AND not lose our numbers), plus we get sprint tv, unlimited gps, and such.
**just so i get don't the "good luck with dropped calls comments," numerous co-workers and friends have sprint and all have coverage in the areas i frequent, so reception isn't an issue**
however, i do like the dark chrome bezel better

I think if you will have the same or nearly the same coverage and experience with Sprint and pay less for service you might as well move over to Sprint. Why not?

I wouldn't pay the etf and leave a carrier because of a rep's "tude" Just wouldn't be worth the money to me to do that unless there are other considerations involved.

No. I have had Storm since release and will be ADDING a Tour to replace my Pearl for other line.
If you need to save the money I understand and hear that the Sprint network may satisfy you. I however moved my Blackberry over from Sprint to Verizon with my other phones 18 months ago and it was a good move. Sprint network good...Verizon network better.
I would take up the offer for the Tour replacing the Storm.

| | Leave VZ for Sprint?
No, not considering that. But this entire episode has shaken my confidence to the point that I am nervous about signing another 2 year contract with VZW.
If I do change, it would be to AT&T for Bold / Onyx or iPhone.

first of all..tech's don't sell phones. second, if coverage is =, i would check and see what carriers the people you call most use. if most of them are on sprint...and if sprint has the same friends and family deal as vzn, you may save some money.
you have to factor in the free carrier to carrier calls to get the real price per minute plan cost. for me, vzn is MUCH cheaper than sprint. i only have one person in my business, family and friends loop that uses a&tt (nobody uses sprint). everyone else is on vzn...so i get a ton of minutes (unlimited for all practical purposes) for a very cheap rate.

well, sprints coverage is worse then at&t's..whats that tell u? If you go with sprint, you will be upgrading to a nicer phone as the Tour, but also downgrading in service as you would get from sprint.
Verizon you will get your phone calls, which is why i stay with verizon

| | Used to be with Sprint / Nextel. Live in Florida. Hurricane Wilma came through...no cell service for 26 days. This is when you needed to have cellular service too!
Switched then and there and never looked back. I know this was 2005, but with Sprint, I used to drop calls like crazy and I can honestly say that I have dropped maybe 2 or 3 calls in the last 4 years with VZW.
Yeah they cost more but as the old saying goes: you get what you pay for.

It really depends on where you live as to who has best service.

I'll never go back to Sprint, I've always had a better experience with VZW. I had Sprint for a little over 5 years and now I'll stay with the larger coverage provider. 8 years running, I'll never go back. But I'll get the Tour for VZW.

AT&T has 1 thing and only 1 thing over Sprint and thats they have a better selection of phones THAT'S IT. Sprint is cheaper has better coverage across the map has a more dependable 3G. Im sorry get your facts straight.
