Today I experienced the infamous "Technical Error" message and had to go to Verizon. We tried upgrading the phone to the newest release of .591 with the GMAIL plugin fixed but it still did the error except this time it was immediate.
If you want 5.0 i would highly suggest getting .419 as it was essentially flawless for most that upgraded to it.
I had zero issue with the OTA upgrade. Its seems as though its all a roll of the dice with these updates.
Does seem odd that Vzw put this update out so soon after the .591. It has to be something to benefit Vzw and not us, b/c many problems still continue. More BS, as usual.

Lovely. 3 down and a bunch to go. No Browser fix, no sound bug fix, and no white screen of death fix. NOW I'm really wondering what that update fixed? Could it really have been just a gmail fix, lol?

Did you get this error for the *first* time with this new update? Or have you had the error before with the old .591?

The battery drain issue is still there. Within the hour I was down to 75% already...no messaging and programs properly closed etc. I had the same issue with the first official 5.0 update though. But in a week it improved. Maybe this is another case, but it's just unacceptable. Anybody else have battery drain unresolved?
People are saying the reboot is faster..I timed mine at 5 minutes. Maybe these updates are really just rolling the dice...

Should change your title from "To all of you on 5.0.0.591", to "anyone not running 591, read this "..
Havent received the email for the update, but I cannot even downgrade to the 484 from the 591. Each time I wipe my unit and install the 484 thru DM, somehow it ends up installing the 591 again.....Tried 3 times this evening, and same result each time. Getting extremely frustrated.....

Stop using DM. Use the apploader instead, unless you have a Mac, in which case get thee to a real PC or run an emulator. Download .484, uninstall .591 from your PC and use apploader. Make sure you delete vendor.xml. The folder you delete that file from contains loader.exe. Run that when ready to install your OS.

the patch could only be done directly from the device. I wasted my time and effort.
On the OS choices in the DM, it still has the 4.7 and I just clicked on it and was able to downgrade.
I do not like the 5.0 and even with the patch hated it. I had such battery drainage with the patch. I also don't like this 1+ dialing. I don't understand why. Not necessary. Also my email was really messed up. And I can't use my own ring tones.
Sandman...What program would you suggest using to back up files? Also, would you recommend using BBSAK to wipe the unit clean prior to installing the new OS?
Ok. Gonna try this 1 more time. Once I download 484, do I need to open & run that prior to opening loader.exe, or will the loader.exe file do that?
Should I also use BBSAK to backup my files?
I like jl_cmdr but I don't have any 3rd party apps to back up, I just re-dl them when I have my new OS on. BBSAK is said to be a good program for backup of programs. DM is still how I make my backups of my contact list and all that stuff. But then I close it after I've made my backups, then wipe the device and use the apploader.
Go to add/remove programs and remove 591. Then run and install the 484 file you downloaded. Then delete vendor.xml and run loader.exe. When it finishes, open DM and restore your backups and restore/reinstall your 3rd party apps.

Finally......No more dreaded 591. Running 484 and running smooth so far. I did notice slightly quicker boot up time. Will see just how well this 1 is now. TY all
Loader should automatically backup your files if I'm not mistaken, but you could use BBSAK just in case. And you have to open and run 484 first, then run the loader. Otherwise the loader doesn't have anything to load
had you been on 591 previously and gotten the error message
i was on 591 and visited the verizon store and they said to go to a technician which was 45 minutes away from where i live so i said the **** with that and did some research. I ended up getting the 5.0.0.591 (4.2.0.284) and so far everything seems to work good execept it deleted my freaking contacts! and there is no games either like the defualt games...but i think that i just messed something up bc from what ive read no one has had that problem
